Sad to hear. I pray that he is with the Lord now. Perhaps I will get a chance to meet this man. The Destruction of your ship is usually preceeded by the thought,"I think I will try somthing a little different this time...." |

Ai his main was Elenit, but Red just sounded cooler in my opinion - and thats how he was christened.
As to all the above Condolences, I thank you as I'm sure his "wench" would (his words). The strange thing is, to be brought to tears for someone who is just a voice, I actually had never met him personally, although I was planning to visit him in Italy sometime this summer.
Lastly thanks to XDohmenxX for breaking the news to me, although not exactly the news that I wanted to hear at least it gave closure over the whole MIA thing.

Deffo what I'll remember 'bout him - He always sounded like a stormtrooper, even when he turned the bass up on his mic cos we all ribbed him constantly.

What if your fears and dreams existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven you had to brave hell? What if everything you ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

I never had the good fortune to meet Red7, but from all the posts I've read so far, I've actually gotten a little teary-eyed. It's always hard to lose a mate or family member. Even though we never actually meet our friends in EvE face-to-face, some are better friends then we'll ever have in our daily lives. The ones who leave too soon, make the biggest impact when they are gone. My prayers and thoughts go out to Red7's friends and family, and my heart aches for your loss. Safe travels to Red7, and Godspeed. -SIG- If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Moving, be like water. Still, be like a mirror. Respond like an echo. -- Bruce Lee, Tao of Jeet Kune Do |

David/Red 7 was truely a great person, and an asset to the 'real' world nevermind Eve. His passing has deeply affected me personally. I had some RL troubles, then my Vista wouldnt accept Rev. II and I was out of eve for about a month-as I was getting ready to get back into Eve, I found out about Davids death from a real world source. Even though I had been told about his passing in 'real' life-I couldnt bring myself to log in and read the words I knew awaited my inbox. Red would many times be only other person online/on vent when I got off work midweek. I run a bar and am allowed to drink (to excess) and would often be well sauced late at night when I spent most of my time with him-and he was great company. He was Uberknowledgable about eve-and would help anyone at any time with info, strategy etc. He would even help non alliance members/strangers/random people in the test server. These reasons and his patience and wisdom, humor and intelligence (prolly 29 without implants in 'real' life) put and kept a smile on my face countless times-even now through tears. He discussed his illness only a few times with me, and wasnt jaded, self-pitying or (noticably) depressed about it when it was discussed. The whole time he was on-he KNEW for a certianty what his future held. He told me once: "I dont know if I will go blind first then a coma or come out of a coma and be blind." I responded with comments that one would expect-"OMG man how do you deal? WTFBBQBS holy ^%$#" etc... and he said there was nothing he could do about it except to plan for the future, and do his best. Can you imagine yourself, going on about your business, being a light in the dark for so many others with such a burden on YOUR shoulders? Now try it with a good outlook and friendly demeanor towards everyone. ( I fall short also)
Thank you guys for posting in this thread-it helps me to know I am not alone with my grief for David. Eve will never be the same for me, and I will never be the same for eve. As a tribute for my fallen friend, I am going to put up and anchor GSC's along a route from Geminate back to empire (Eurgrana) with each one named a memorial to him. If anyone else would like to participate, please do so-put a can up in a gate grid with suitable message. If you would like to salute David, but think named GSC's are cheesy or just dont like the idea in general- then consider answering questions/helping people in "help" and "noob" channels ingame. This is a good fit as Red was ALWAYS willing to disseminate his info to people who needed it. David: I waited many months for you to return. I was afraid for you, and at the same time hopeful that somehow the Microsoft job in Ireland had worked out and you were too busy to play. I knew better, but had to hold out hope against hope that you would be back. I miss you and your merory will be with me. Always.
I talked history with you, and relished your insight into the Euro-mindset. I couldnt wait for you to come back so I could share this link with you-I know you would/will think it is funny as ****. (does Heaven have T1 connection?) http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/61540/detail/
I may leave Eve someday-I'll never leave Zephyr. I miss talking to you in Zephyr's Magical Balloon. Rest in peace man. I will remember your strength of character (no pun intended) and work towards our goal with the rest of the team. You are dear to me, even in death. Thank you for everything you have done for me/us. You are and will be, remembered as one of the great ones. |

just found this thread and all of the above is true every aspect of red/dave was truly selfless in everything he did. one of the few willing to help anyone without expecting anything for it.
it stunned me how this sad passing has blurred the boundary's on so many levels.
The passing of an internet space man, a voice on vent, a friend in game. can bring such a feeling of loss for someone you never really meet but yet know better than some of your real life mates.
Corpse i know your feeling m8, ps thanks for making tears flow again

I never knew Red at all - but seeing the words expressed here - makes me wish our paths had crossed in EVE.
I only have this for the people here really:
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love." (Anonymous) -------
