Q. What is Eve-Marketplace? The marketplace is an in-game and out-of-game solution to the problems and hassles of the current trading system. It is a place where players can buy and sell items in a searchable database.
Q. Are there any fees associated with the marketplace? No. The marketplace is a completely free site to use.
Q. How do I buy or sell anything? This site is useless! You need to login to use the out-of-game buy/sell functions. To "register", you'll need to set an OOG Access Code. Otherwise, you can browse this site in the ingame EVE browser.
Q. How do I log in? What is this OOG Access Code? To buy or sell on the out-of-game version of EVE Marketplace, you will need to set your access code by going to www.eve-marketplace.com in your ingame browser. At the bottom of the page will be a link to Character Info. You will be able to set your OOG Access Code there.
Q. In the ingame site under Character Info, what is this email notification address? By entering your email address, EVE Marketplace will be able to send you an email every time a new buy order is placed. Thus, this would only be useful for sellers at the moment.
Q. How come I need to make the marketplace a trusted site in-game? Trusting the marketplace allows EVE to communicate with webservebr, letting the site know who you really are. EVE only transmits data such as your character name and your corporation name. It does not send sensitive data such as your username or password.
Q. Are sales on the marketplace binding? No. Buying or selling anything on the marketplace only shows intent towards buying or selling something. In the end, it is up to the players to actually do the transaction.

It's been tried before (though never a pretty as this).
I'm not sure how happy CCP would be that you've nicked their entire layout though. :D
One thing to bear in mind... If this site see's a significant amount of traffic, big corps would likely be willing to pay isk for adverts. ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

I think there are some real copyright issues with this site.

Edited by: Desper on 20/01/2004 16:24:58 Have you tried the site ingame as well? I think that's the real seller.
If CCP really has a problem with the site, all they have to do is evemail me and let me know. The only thing in question (i think) are the pics at the top. ----- EVE Marketplace | Forum Search Tool EVE M staff |

Remember to post WTS orders here too. Just need name, price, approx qty and location.
I don't mind going through the trade channel / market forums myself, but it'll make things easier for me. ----- EVE Marketplace | Forum Search Tool EVE M staff |

Judging by the out-of-game setup, it looks like a very well thought out organization. One problem I had with the other market sites was that they put every order into a seperate document, which made it very hard to navigate or compare deals. Putting all the deals in a brief format in a list sorted by price is perfect.
I have not seen the ingame site yet though, so don't actually know how useful it will be.
One question I have though is if the listings have a timeout. Since the item can be sold and not removed from the list (seems like it'd happen quite often) items could remain on the list for months. Do you have a mechanism to deal with this?

If the seller doesn't update the listing for a few (~7) days, the listing will be dropped from the database. ----- EVE Marketplace | Forum Search Tool EVE M staff |

With constant updates it will be a nice refesher compared to Trade channel spamming and scanning.

nice idea.. lots of good thoughts.. real problem with using CCP's layout without thier permission.. i really suggest changing the graphics on this as this graphics scenery implies CCP. even though you stated that thsi is NOT affliated with.. you still need thier permission to use thier graphics set up.

I think, there might be some copyright issues as well, but maybe put a banner saying "unoffical" near the eve-market symbol. Also, just write a my to CCP, asking if the site is ok, if not, they'll tell you anyway, but this way, they can't complain you haven't asked...
Otherwise: great looking! I'll give it a try as soon as I'm home from work! -----------------------------------------------

Yea, I think I'll send CCP an email asking if it's okay. I'll also change the background scenery a little bit too. ----- EVE Marketplace | Forum Search Tool EVE M staff |

The cows right now look a little silly. If you're wondering, it's not a reference to the mo0 corporation. Maybe if I could make them 3-d and blue... ----- EVE Marketplace | Forum Search Tool EVE M staff |

It very neat . However imo one should be able to buy/sell even none ingame. Also, i couldnt find my sells when i searched for ga'ia, think that ' is the problem here. You however did provide a link to my sellings with %27 (which is '), but it needs to be able to search with those in name still. Again, awesome site . __________________________________________________________ |

I also think that the site is a cool idea, but you should probably change the intro graphic further with some other random blue space background at the top. I hope you don't get bandwith killed if the site becomes popular though. --Missa New Siggy to Come Soon(tm) |

I like the site. Very easy to update ingame, so I will be using it along with Trade, Standard Market, and Escrow.
Its nice to have a site that you can update ingame.

Great project, I think your site will become an essential ressource soon - faster if you remove the cows from the out-of-game site.
