Right so theres quite a few of us getting screwed over at the mo. Basicly all tiscali's user cant get on as they wont pick up the sever or will hang on bulk data. Now we dont wont any reposnes of OMG CHANGE ISP! or how to change isp. Someone is bound to be smart enough to fequre out a quick fix some way to help us work with our limted packets or some way to boost are connections specifly to sever.
I SUMMON YOU WISE FORUM WARRIORS! let us play again
If you are affected by this say so, so we can get a rough number of people affected.
Ps. Could some1 at ccp nudge tiscali and saying "oi you incompant company! yeah you! are customers can play our game thx to your ****y severs fix it already" ofc in a more polite fashion.

I would just like to say that this is incorrect. I am with tiscali and have never had a problem.

Then you are lucky, as most of us cant get on.. And I have just got my Mac code from them, actually the best service I recieved from them was the cancellation dept. what does that say about Tiscali. I got my Mac code 1.5 hours after requesting it.

suffering here at the hands of tiscali too
i have tried all manor of things to connect to the game, have to admit not tried the proxy idea and well will try anything really.
according to the various reps that i have spoken to..
this is a problem/ it is not a problem my router/ firewall is blocking it tiscali supports games / does not support games i have the wrong cable plugged in ( nearly cried laughing at this one as i hung up) i should downgrade my line from 8Mb i should wait 4 weeks for a server upgrade adsl is a technology that does not work with gaming i will be called back they are a call centre designed to help people connect to broadband and they have had no training for online gaming support ( that was a supervisor) open DNS is bad for me, and will be slowing down my service and my personal favourite
"tiscali dont block ports sir i can promise you that......ahhh it seems that the ports are blocked"
OK all in all this is beyond a joke and needs escalating further than us mere mortals can manage, CCP i beg you HELP US

Not only can I not play midweek at the times I want, but it seems now I can't even play on a saturday, was logged on for 1 hour just into the middle of a mission (Combat) and EVE crashed on me with connection lost now cant get back in to save my ship.
This is beyond a joke. Why can't CCP do anything!!!

Um...daily downtime? Dunno if that's what caused your disconnect but since you posted at 10:56 it's unlikely you'll be logging in for a while. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I couldn't agree more, I have been unable to play all week as I am not nocturnal! We really need ccp input into this problem urgently. p.s. I am a tiscali user but I have never received a FUP email warning from them, and according to my details at tiscali i am not subject to the restrictions during peak times but i still cant log in to eve during tiscali's peak times.

I think its mainly 8meg users that are affected, as i know some one on 2meg and they are fine tho they are London area and im am outskirts of Hull.
I rang up and apparently this problem should be fixed within 2-3 days, i said im giving them 7 and then leaving tiscali if its not resolved.
The guy did go and ring the engineers and got back to me props to him, bu i dunno if he was just buying time.
Now i cant log on even past midnight Saturday night.

yeh I've been having the same problem for a while now, won't pick up the server or gets stuck on aquiring bulk data. I have 2meg tiscali and have had a similar problem in the past with them on other mmorpgs, then all of a sudden it's been resolved for months and here it is all over again with EVE. Was working perfectly for months and now i can't connect unless it's like 1-2am.

Is this because you are on Datastream or LLU? I'll wager you are and the rest of us are still on IPStream! And thats why!

Also to those that havent seen it, there are 2 *Temporary* solutions to this problem to be found in this thread: Linkage
They involve connecting thru a proxy type thing. They work albeit slowly, but they do work, can't guarantee that for eveyone but when it comes to 4pm and eve drops, use it til midnight then go back to normally connecting.
OH and btw, Tiscali is more borked at the weekends. I believe it has to do with Tiscali's peak times. You will find not being able to connect between 11:00 and 00:00 on saturdays and sundays.

4pm to midnight would be port throttling imho.
Some ISP (including TalkTalk) will only really allow you to web browsing and e-mail between those times. They are too stupid to realise that playing online games is not abusing their bandwidth, so they throttle back everything instead of just the specific ports that are used for heavy download via bittorrent for example.
They slow down all traffic on a whole range of ports. I left TalkTalk because of this.
Yhis is almost as bad as Virgin cutting your speed if you downlod too much between 4pm and midnight. Has any ISP heard of this new revolution called internet TV and HD TV? 20mins of HD TV download at the full Virgin speed and you bust your daily allowance.

I'm on Tiscali, and until very recently I wasn't able to log on to Eve at all between 6PM and Midnight, any night of the week. I don't know quite what's hapenned recently but this week I've found I can log both my accounts on any time I like.
I believe we were being throttled at one point because of excessive downloading (I live in a shared house and the landlord pays for the connection), so now I can't tell if the throttling becuase of that has been removed or whether they've just unlocked all the prots again.
Either way, I can play in the evenings again, yay!

Edited by: Jovoich on 07/07/2007 21:21:33 Hi, im a tiscali customer, phoned them up yesterday and got them to tell me the the problem is apparently with the BT hardware that its out-of-date, so to make sure that all the tiscali users in the area get even access the stop us connecting to game site and game ports. Got told that tiscali only request bt to upgrade there hardware once every 6mnths and it takes between 6-12mnths for it to done. So, on that note, if anyone can suggest another isp for me that would be ace!

Edited by: Glane Sardar on 07/07/2007 22:27:14 check out http://www.thinkbroadband.com
customer reviews of the major brands, I am on a smaller brand paying ú40 pm for adsl only Bigger brands seem to have poor speeds, connection etc
Currently watching offline films, so here is a speedtest
http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/results.php?t=1183846872&v=1773367 Tiscali wont care as when you all leave, you will be replaced by eager people wanting unlimited adsl for ú10 or whatever they charge. They forget to tell u about fair usage Etnanet seem pretty good, as do zen. Am with merula.net, all of theses are not cheap but then you get what you pay for :)
ping www.jolt.co.uk Pinging www.jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 13ms, Maximum = 14ms, Average = 13ms

Not recall the server off hand, but you get the idea :)
No smart fix other than changing isp, as if their network over subscribed by p2p addicts and not really set up for decent games, you can either whine and whine to them and get nowhere or phone for a MAC

If it was a problem with the BT network hardware why is it only effecting Tascali users other ISP's would be using the same hardware as them? The hardware that links them to the BT network is installed by their own engineers I beleive in BT exchanges.
As other have pointed out its a problem that comes back. It sounds like a lack of capacity some where and they are traffic shaping, resulting in Eve related packets being dropped.
As for people suggesting another ISP, I am with BT and I have not had any connections problems (other then a hub frying was replaced free)however they are more expensive then others. But they cannot blame another company if something goes wrong.
it all comes down to: You pays your money and takes you choose. The only thing to watch out for are LLU ISP's, you may have differcults leaving (not covered by the ofcom user transfer rules) and they will move your phone service as well and check the small print some have large disconnection fee's upto ú90 even then you are out of contract. also most contracts are now 18 months or longer.
