If my solution doesn't work, then say so, and I'll try to get it fixed.
It seemed to work for a few days but I just got some of my settings (like drone groups, overview settings) reset.
I nuked the whole settingsfolder under my documents etc, completely unistalled the entire game, nothing left. then I reinstalled it, downloaded your .bat file and used it. everything is now inside me eve - game folder.
It worked well from the latest patch last Tuesday until now.
I had one client running and when I started the other one it got reset.
Using XP pro.
That doesn't make a lick of sense, so either CCP has something REALLY weird going on (copy protection on a freely-downloadable client?) or I misunderstood what you said. Both clients were running with their own copy of my .bat file, under separate directories? If so, it's not physically possible for the one to affect the other.
Edit: Just to check, you did say you nuked it first, right?

Yes, I unistalled the game, and then deleted all settings that was left. Then I reinstalled the game and downloaded your .bat-file and used it. And everything worked fine a couple of days.
I only use one copy of the client in which I run my two accounts. I has worked just fine before rev 2 and i have a friend who do the same and he donŠt have these resets happening to him.
Soo yes: Nuked --> reinstalled game --> used -bat-file --> worked a few days --> my settings are now reset anyway :(
Perhaps I must use two different clients for the two differnt accounts then? Although it has worked just fine before rev. 2 using just one client for both accounts.

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 21/07/2007 19:00:13 This might be far fetched, but I am wondering if maybe this might have something to do with dual core processors? Maybe the people affected and not affected could post their system specs?
I am affected and I have this: AMD X2 3800 dual core 1 gig mem GeForce 7600 GT Windows XP Pro SP2
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Most of my accounts are on one install, the rest on another. Still, it might be better to keep them separated, just for good luck?

Add me to the list as well,
Running XP SP2 fully updated AMD X2-4400
I can keep my settings for a few restarts and then it just resets randomly when i log in. Everything is gone including my will to play the game.
This is not an isolated issue and should at least be recognised by CCP.
Please (i'm naked on my knee's now !) fix this, if not for me, just do it for my imaginary friend in my head ...

Im having same problem as everyone else. Funny thing for me is that it only happens on 1 of my 3 clients that i have installed. It only affects my main not my alt's and happens every 2-3 days, so not as bad as everyone else, but still annoying.
Running: XP Home SP 2 Dual Core 2.13 4Gb Ram Nvidia 8800GTS

Edited by: Daliyn on 23/07/2007 16:07:23 Edited by: Daliyn on 23/07/2007 16:07:11 I have been getting this same problem since rev II. Had hoped it had been fixed on the last patch, but just started up the game now and everything has reset again on my first client. For the love of God, CCP, put the folders back the way they were!!!!!

I have the same problem with mine. Keep resetting overview and i cant even correct it to show what i want it too. either i have everything show up or nothing at all :(
not good for PVP in a PVP game!!!
note not even a single reply from a gm on here! maybe they dont care? or dont have a clue what is wrong even though we go through this every new flipping patch. lasts for 1 week or 2 then gets sorted but this time it looks as though its here for good!
seems like each time they try and do somthing new or try and be clever and make something more complicated than it needs to be we get screwed. Your signature is too large. Please see the Forum Rules for the limits - Serathu ([email protected])

Originally by: Daimao Kusanagi Edited by: Daimao Kusanagi on 01/07/2007 22:30:02 EVE's settings are constantly being reset to the game's defaults. Not just a couple settings either, every single setting is reset. This happens once a day at least among the usual game crashes. Seeing as how I am *trying* to play the trial, this is having a bad impact on what I think about the game. Four of my days are burned out.
I have tried appending /end /LUA:OFF and that only partially solves the problem. A large majority of my settings still get randomly reset to the defaults. My game does crash a lot and the petition for that issue has gone unanswered for 4 days (I really don't find that acceptable).
Also, I am using Win2k (newest SP).

I am also having this problem when using two clients at the same time. The second client always resets because of the move to using the /documents and settings folder... why CCP??

Edited by: Lord EmBra on 24/07/2007 17:30:28 ok, I now have the 2 accounts in 2 sepparate folders, i run the .bat file soo all files are within their corresponding eve-client folder.
And I have had 2 reset of settings on the 30 minutes I have played so far today. Im really really getting upset now. Nothing seems to work.
My speccs are: AMD64 X2 3800+ dual core 1 gig mem Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT Windows XP Pro SP2
Had no problems at all before Rev II.
Seems like alot of people here who have problems have dual core...

There is a known work-around. See my post on page 3 in this thread.
On page 3, it's very detailed for those who may not be computer experts.
But, in short.
1. Delete all files/folders in EVE's cache directory. 2. Log into a character and set ALL 'per account' settings. [ie: wallet, fitting, corp., personal hanger windows] 3. While in same character, set ALL 'per character' settings. [ie: corp. hangers, cans in personal & corp. hangers, etc.] 4. Log out, and use a ZIP program or MS Backup to back up the EVE Cache directory, saving files/folders > "With/Save PATHNAMES" <. 5. Log into another character on same account and set 'per character' settings. 6. Log out, make another ZIP or Backup file "saving/with pathnames". Using a different file name in each incremental save. 7. Repeat process for your other account, if you use more than one.
In each step, name the zip or backup file a different name, so it's incremental in case of loosing your settings while in process.
You only need to make a backup file once you have made major changes to settings for an account/character.
When your settings are wiped out again:
1. Delete all files/folders from cache directory. 2. Restore the most recent backup file that you've made. [ie: if your eve cache folder is on the C: drive, and you backed up your file using path names, you would simply 'extract' the file using pathnames. If you use windows backup, you just restore to the original location.
This will work until they have a long term fix for it.
See page 3 of this thread for more detailed info for those of you who are not familiar w/ the process of backing up files using a Zip program or MS Backup, and restoring them using path locations and/or original locations.

Edited by: Daliyn on 25/07/2007 21:17:54 Work arounds are all well and good, but I want a bloody fix for this major c*ck up! We all know why it's happening, and that it's not a major thing that requires thousands of lines of coding to fix. So why has this issue not even been looked at yet?

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one but this still ****es me off.
It takes time to join channels, set resolutions, and then you restart the thing, it flips into fullscreen and the stupid tutorial pops up. Almost every day!
When I look at the official "issues list", this isn't even there!!! Neither is the POS shield bug.. the only issues I see on the issues list are trivial ones I don't care about.

At this point I'm doubting whether CCP is actually bothered by this bug at all. Some kind of official word would be nice though.

Not all bug are easy to fix and may involve numerous issues. The best course of action is to report the bugs and hopefully CCP and the bug hunter team will have enough information to corner the bug and squish it. - Pirlouit
