So, I logged in today to find this mail in my inbox (senders name censored):
Quote:
2007.07.01 00:59 I just want to let you all know, since you all had so much to do with my decision, I will not be renewing with EVE for another month. Two seems more than sufficient to show me that there is little fun to be had. And of course, you all had so much to do with it, I thought you'd be more than happy to know you've driven another player away from EVE.
Thank you for such an enjoyable time.
Your victim,
A quick search of my killboard reveals the killmail for that person. They lost a Hurricane and a Pod nearly a month ago in 0.3 space. The character is currently 2 months old and in a very respectable, but not 0.0, alliance.
My only question in this is how is this decision my fault? You flew into lowsec space. The game even pops up a warning when you're about to enter lowsec space to let you know that this is dangerous. You then didn't watch local or your scanner to know if you should be docking up. And then you wait a month to tell me that it's my fault.
No, it's not my fault. Please, to all the carebears out there, have the courage to accept your mistakes and to have the strength to defend your decisions as your own. All of us pirates out there accept the consequences of our actions in that we can never enter high sec again (well, not without ratting for an eon and a half). We don't blame others when we die. We don't point fingers and blame carebears for our runs of bad luck. Please, use us as an example. Maybe not our actions, but certainly our strength.
I now return you all to your regularly scheduled killing...

the mail would suggest that he didn't learn from his initial mistake (the one which led to you podding him) but was subsequently blown up by a succession of other people, all of whom have also received a copy of this touching message.

I may not be a PvPer, but to be honest, if that guy can't take a loss he can go back to wow... for freaking sake I bet a carebear can at least take a loss.

uhhh... i ran into a carebear in my rifter during my frigate months... I had just earned my T2 autocannons and wanted to test them. I am in 0.4 and a slasher (equipped with railguns... ) warps to my belt. I pop him and I decide what the hell so squish goes the pod. A T1 fitted slasher and pod of the pilot who came at my alt in a Brutix in 0.5 and started shooting but was too unskilled to take my retriever down in 15 seconds before concord got him . I log in a couple hours later and the little guy had gotten together 72M isk he put on my head .
I recently lost it, congrats to the ambushers , but I think it is a good reference to how carebears are WAY too attached to their trash

This is the best thread I've read in C&P in a long time. I agree I don't have the features to be a holoreel star. Most people have missed the point that this is Mobsters Online and that carebears are at the bottom of the foodchain. |

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 01/07/2007 16:31:38 If he left because of something you did, regardless of how reasonable your action may have been under game's rules, it is your doing that he left.
Stand proud as a representative of natural selection in Eve. I wish I could say that I had driven someone like that out of the game, but unfortunately my lifestyle is not too conducive to such occurrences.
BTW, you should print out the EVEMail and frame it. -

No, no, its my friend Steve's fault. He doesn't even play this game, but once told me I could blame him for anything.
Thus, here I am, laying the blame at his feet.

Yes, its more common than you think, because, despite adjusting my settings 15 times, the default character for the forums is the one I posted with.

The worst hatemails are those which you cannot read... I had a 3 or 4 letter mail in russian the other day I think - guess it meant "Watch your back, scum" or similar...
Eve is a game that really gets people emo about ships and property... And many people are having trouble accepting the nature of the Game. Losing a battle sucks so much more in Eve - also explaining the number of BloB's and Carebears...
I myself have trouble seeking combat - Because I really hate losing my ships... Even if it's a cheap T1 Caracal - I'm a nice guy!! and OMG I love Team Tuxford for the speedbalancing... |

As a "Carebear" (albeit with a few decent skills and weapons) even I have to say that guy was lame. I have lost ships (CENSORED ganker) but not very often, and I learned something every time.
I also get a kick out of talking to known gatecampers in local and asking if his little sniper gatecamp is still up (he said it was)....and then hollering "FAIL!" when I slip right on through his 5 BS camp. (not that hard, really) Sure it's a risk, but then so is crossing the street to buy that pack of gum. I just make sure that I know what I'm doing before hand, then prepare well. If I lose a ship to one of those gate camps... well, it's likely to be empty, easily replaced, and a learning experience (pay attention when poking pirates)
Mine da rocks, make more ships. Pop da rats, make more rigs. Sell da gear, make more money.
Any Questions? |
