Nice tools this EFT. I wanted to report 2 bugs, maybe.
1. If I put some modul into EFT and then try to make column with energy consumption wider, it starts to flash and crashes.
2. If you put cloaking device off-line, EFT shows sensor strength like if module was no installed. In reality off-lined cloaking device still lowers sensor strength.
I am sorry, if this was reported already.

I just wonder why CCP did not created such application themselves already, many people spent more time in EFT as in game for sure. I would say that next EFT is anticipated more as was the QR patch itself.
@Keitaro: Use that organ hidden in your skull between ears. Most of us use EFT when we cannot log online or need validate fitting needs in the release build, not in the testbed where parameters can be different. :P |

@Gripen: I would have an idea for functionality. In mobility group is shown today speed and align time and warp speed/distance. Could you add there a maximal speed reached from 0 in a time of 1 AB/MWD cycle based on skills/ship build/boosters/etc.?

@Irn Bruce: After every patch, sooner or later, is released a new database by CCP. The format changes are fully in hands of CCP. Gripen is, so I believe, exporting this CCP original into some database engine EFT use and modifies EFT to be compatible with database format changes under EFT hood. Thus database editor is probably not possible as it is one-way process and only by Gripen.
@Grippen: I wonder if you could as a new feature introduce capacitor simulator. That capacitor stability state based on peak consumption and peak recharge rate is a bit rough. It would have good use for all capital pilots and sub-cap pilots will prolly better understand their ships.
Entrance point could be in File menu, where you open capacitor simulator window. It would show 2d plot with x-axis time and y-axis cap %. Curve(s) present in plot would be either preset:
with 10% starting cap without mods used (for chain jumping) with 20% start cap with mods active in ship screen with 30% start cap with mods active in ship screen
or there would be entrance field for cap starting state in % and only active modules in fit would be used to plot 1 curve only.
Plot would have rulers cutting x-axis at points where cap reaches 70% and 80% (if it gets up to there).
If starting cap input field would be used, an extra ruler cutting y-axis to show cap stable percentage could be handy (if fit is cap stable of course).
I guess you have all infos needed--capacitor paramters and module consumption and their cycles collected. EFT would have a perfect chance to do a tick based simulation with full resolution of different module cycles.
It would allow quick analyze of recharge times for cases like chain jumping (10%->80% cap) or emergency jumps out after siege (20%/30%->70% cap with modules active). Dread fleets could for example avoid usual mess with waiting on one or two stupidly fitted colleages with loong recharge time. Dreads could be as well better tanked without over-recharging, when you know you get enough cap to jump out after siege.

Originally by: Nethras The ship bonuses are probably the only problem with trying to update the datafiles - the standard ship stats (cap, hp, regen times, slots, etc) look like they're stored in a standard format in Ships.dat, and could be edited. However, ship bonuses are likely only represented by an ID number, and changing them could be significantly more complicated, and if the new bonuses aren't on some pre-existing ship (ie, the new Bomber bonuses), is almost certainly impossible without code modifications. I could be wrong, but I also believe that EFT has been updated faster in the past than new data dumps have been given by CCP.
I personally do not go so far in guessing how looks EFT under hood exactly. So I will wait on Gripen update.

All of those regen times you mention as uses can be calculated in a spreadsheet pretty accurately (ignoring the timing of mod use) based on ship cap, cap recharge time, and cap use. A general purpose cap simulator requires a new UI to deal with mod use and timing as well as the simulation engine itself - most ship fits that are barely cap stable lose that stability if all the mods cycle at the same time for example. Considering that this has been on people's wishlists since QuickFit quit being maintained, I doubt Gripen will suddenly decide it's something he wants to do just because your fleets are apparently being delayed by fits outside your own standards.
It is actually not so complicated at all and I even have such spreadsheet for my own need. However EFT could do it more precisely with timing of mods, where I do use just average consumption per tick to save myself that hassle with module timing. Can provide for Gripen if he would be interested in it.
BTW You are his official spokesperson voicing his decisions? 'cause I do not care much about your doubts. :P
