I have seen this before here, but I want to put in a vote for it. A passive scan detector would give the user a few seconds of warning if they are being hunted. This is available in technology today. Certainly it would exist in a future time.
This would put a damper on piracy, so limitations could be imposed to allow for balance. - Scanning can only be detected within a certain distance.
- Scanning is only detected after a certain number of seconds of delay.
- The module could be expensive.

I would like to have a module that while active, could alert me if somebody is warping to my location. Also to display the signature size so u could make an assumption about the ship type. Or just tell me the type. It would be great for low sec mining imo.

How about a module that encapsulates your ship in a forcefield that is completely immune to all damage types as soon as someone enters the same constellation as you?

Or better yet, as soon as someone else enters the same constellation as you, your whole ship is immediately transferred into a "safe" universe called World of Warcraft.

This joke is old. Find a new one.
I am for removing the local chat, so we need something like this to compensate that.

Working in conjunction with the removal of Local, this would be a great idea, to be honest.

I actually like this idea, but it should only be useful within maximum scan range (14.3 AU), and only if the probe gets a result on you within your grid when the scan cycle is complete. If a guy's using an observator 60 AU away and gets a hit 100M KM off of you, it shouldn't let you know. Only when the guy drops a snoop and gets a, say, 30KM hit. -----

There is already such a module in game - it is called a scan probe launcher ;) Piracy does not need any more "dampening to impose balance" a semi-intelligent player can always avoid getting ganked during a lowsec mission run.

No, it's not. A miner in a low sec belt can't use probe launcher. A mission runner is busy killing NPC's, doesn't have time to launch probes and analyze them.
