Personally I'm a fan of both. Nothing like running AP gatecamps in my 'cane o pain, then docking in the next system and artfully insulting them until they give up.

i dont see your problem
didnt you get what you wanted a fight
like people have been saying, just undock in a shuttle or a pod. go somewhere else and regroup. stage hit and run ops. now you have plenty of targets. you are all in cheap ships, who cares if you lose them. few rats in .4 space will earn enough to replace your ships and modules.

So instead of a sheep you found a wolf ... and instead of holding still and getting griefed they / he actually took advantage of you and started shooting. Well ... i would say you got what you asked for now make the best of it. Either adapt and give em a good fight so they mabe leave you alone, or stop playing eve ...

Well, hey, thanks for all your great replies, guys. The ones that weren't trying to make a fool of me were actually helpful... only problem is, I lag something awful, so undocking and running usually doesn't work because I'm popped and podded before I have control of myself.
I would have to claim the war as a win, to be honest. Sure, they killed us more than we killed them, but we didn't cave in to any of their demands and they forgot to pay the war-bill. I guess they couldn't afford a the 124ISK a second, huh?

im pretty sure, you get the chance to pop some of their non combat ships now.
which isnt even lame, imho, since youre so young :)
big problem about eve is... most people keep their noncombat ships and alts in different/noob corps 
no more sense of cool gameplay these days

Fly frigate gangs, take the bait, kill the bait, and then run like hell when the ganksquad arrives. 
A gang of 5 or 6 frigates is both agile and deadly, especially when carrying t2, or when the frigates themselves are t2.
Af packs are so ftw.

OMG !!! you think YOU won that war? Dude, what kind of farm manure have you been smoking? You got creamed, plain and simple. here is what I find so crazy about this:
1) You killed a mining barge? oh CMON !!! they are the easiest targets in all of Eve to kill besides a drone whose owner left it in space.
2) It took more than one of you, probably using your best weapons to do it.
3) If you 'lag' so bad, I suggest you give up pirating and take up, oh, copying BPO's for a living (no lag inside a station but I guess you know all about that following your 'win' against UFA)
You got owned, plain and simple. I am willing to bet cold cash that Purify and MAPU didn't think you enough of a challenge to waste anymore money on you. To quote one of the members "this used to be fun, hunting these jackclowns, but now it's like digging the pewp from between the treads of your shoe; a required thing, but something you grow tired of"
Here is some advice, when ya start a war, make sure in advance that you can win it....
