Hi,
What I purpose is that CCP make the test server an actual TEST SERVER. A place where you can test any mod not just the equipment you have the skill points to operate.
If would be amazing if you could test everything so you have something to train towards in the real game. You donÆt know how something will perform unless you test it.
Ever trained to use something and it wasn't quite what you expected??
Every one please put down whether you think this is idea worth CCP working toward

The point of the test server is for people to actually test new features and the like, not run around in titans blowing **** up. If that was allowed then no actual game testing would ever take place or be possible. ---

This would be a great idea. A test server should be just that, how can CCP expect things to be tested in the test server with the current method. Maybe a lot more bugs could be found and correct long before they ever hit Tran -- *snip* Your signature exceeds the maximum filesize (24,000bytes) and also the signature dimensions 400x120 pixels -TheDagda ([email protected]) |

You have to build the titan first. The only thing that should change is the skills. New skills that are added should have to be trained but, if you want a real good testing process to take place, then we should have the option to use more than what we have the skills for.
And, not everyone would be running around in titans, only those that need to compensate for something

Ok, I am going to say this once before the entire damn topic gets spammed with it...
Do not use titans as an excuse! They can not even be bought!
And just to note, I have played in many test servers that capped / skilled you in other games and they got along fine as far as bugs being reported.
The second everyone can look past the fact that the entire community does not in fact think like a 3 year old (IE: Is not going to go on there just to mess around) is the second some actual progress will be made. I happen to know lots of people, who if had the chance to actually test stuff, that has not been in the game for years and does not need priority testing, would. Granted, some would play, but what the hell do you think they are doing right now? People will play on it if you do this or not.

Only if there is an option to turn to MAX skills, or TRAINED skills (same ones you have on TQ) Because some bugs are skill related, like the Tactical Shield Manipulation. It works level 1-4, but at level 5 it acts like it has never been trained at all (no effect, unless they fixed this bug recently)

OK since this is a game and the things on the test server are for game the only real way to know what they are going to do in the TQ environment is to use them like they would be used on TQ (please correct me if I am wrong, but in the 23 years I have been doing software development and testing thats how we have done it.. Not for CCP either before anyone starts on that line)..
So if people were then able to use everything on the test server it would make for much better testing, and yeah there would be those people that would run straight for the biggest ships etc but you would also find that those people that are really serious about testing would give all different ship types a go. I mean there are people who play EVE that like HAC's there are others that like carriers etc etc so it is vey possible that there would be only a few that would run for the titans.
Yes there are some bugs that are skill based and I am glad I have now found out about that one with the tactical Shield Manip. a I have just started training that skill and would freak out if it did that when I got to lvl 5 and I didnt know about the bug...
Anyway I think there is a lot more to be gained by opening up the test server so people can use most if not all available things rather than using the same limits the main server has.

I was wondering when someone would bring this up again, think it's been atleast 7 minutes since the last thread about this
Anyway, yes we should have some way to train skills fast/instant or just have max skills but it won't ever happen

Hi All,
Thanks for all your input so far and thereÆs always someone with a bad opinion, it happens. But if we all feel strongly about this and I think most people do then CCP should look into it. As everyone already knows "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT " and we don't pay not to be listened to.
If we get enough replies something might actually get done.

I have to agree with this thread, there needs to be a slash command or something similar to set skills on Sisi...at least during feature training. I wanted to test bombs, but alas I didn't yet train covops and was unable to. If I had been able to I would have tried the damage at each level to see if it was in-line with the calculated value and such.
Though I'll admit, I might have gone out and given something else a spin for a few minutes.

i agree to an extent. i was hoping to be able to test out a Battleship on the test server but i cant becuase i dont have the skills for it yet. i would like to see if i would like the ship before i train the skill for it.

That is exactly why we don't get it, the test server is to test game features, not find out what you want to train for or what you should put on your bloody ships
FFS, amazing how some F'wads can screw everyone, maybe make the test server private and allow actual testers access (not just BHs <_< )

When new skills are added, they are given to players that use the skill to certain levels. I assume the same case would be new ships or items to make the testing process easy.
Unless something is being added there is no reason to have skills you don't already have on the real server. As there is only a small window of time very often for bug testing.
Like Sunday night, perfect example of this small testing window.

Jita you have a few valid points, but what you said above is what the test server is all about. Testing which mods to use on certain ship to see how well they perform and what can be added to better it.
Other people have also made very good points, CCP could max out the skills for maybe 1-2 days a week to see how it goes. They could monitor it now and again to see if it's being abused. If so they can revert it back to normal, no harm done.

No you got it wrong, the test server isn't a way for you to save money, it's to test new features before they hit TQ, why do you think they add it on there first?

I like having my skills, as i mainly use sisi for testing fits, and if i had maxed gunnery, or tanks, it wouldn't be an accurate representation. So meh.
