Since the making of stations will cost much and no one would consider to risk building this asset if it was easily destroyable, what if they introduced the following:
1. A central station core (indestructible, towable after take over in order to steal it) 2. Extra shield modules that can be attacked and destroyed by enemy or replaced and replenished by defenders, taking up energy (need of energy batteries), while the attack goes on. 2. Armor modules that can behave like shield modules and can be replenished and replaced by specific minerals, inside the store hangars and or brought from outside while the fight keeps going. 3. Hangars, medic, insurance, market, research, etc. modules that are all can be destroyable and repairable via employed modules as we do on ships, that all must be destroyed in order to free the station core to steal it via towing, capturing it would mean that should be redeploy and towed but not in the same planet/moon. They could redeploy afterwards in same spot if they desire, but the core module should be a difficult and slow module to tow, but only if they used enough ships to make that faster, this means even more force to protect this convoy from the original defenders hijacking the convoy and stealing it back. Or they could make all the modules stealable so the defenders can do on the attackers what they did to them initialy.
All of this could make taking and damaging a station a bit difficult and would need carefull planing of every move. Stations and every basic module in themk could be made to behave like a stationary fleet in a battle with their own shield and armor modules, this can open up a new category for skills and extra training as much as new tactics, employments and gamestyles for potential station builders/managers/owners mechanics, each one of those employments except the owner and manager could be out of the corporation and facilitating a whole new career by itself, for ex.they could appear as hired personel.
Every man lives..but not every man dies!
