There already is an aggro timer of 15 minutes where your ship stays in system if you have been aggro'd. Could CCP possibly implement a 15 minute timer for all ships in 0.0 space whether or not they have an aggression timer. The exception to be able to log off at a pos.

That would be wonderfull, especially incombination with a way to scan down cloaked ships to some extent.

This change would make it impossible to log off safely in 0.0 unless there's a friendly station / pos nearby. Apart from anything else, this isn't really fair on anyone who has to go afk for a while for whatever reason, and would lead to a lot of defenseless players who have been offline for 10 minutes getting ganked. Not signed.

If your corp has a pos or an outpost this would be a good place for you to log off.
If you or your corp doesn not havea pos , then you should probably go back to empire to log.
0.0 is not ment to be a protected space. Logging off in 0.0 with only a 1 minute timer is a protection.

Very good idea ... but
a genaral logouttime in 0.0 would help against the chinafarmer, who are allways log out when someone join the system ... i can scan them out in 30 sec and i cant catch them ... I HATE IT
5 min should be enought too, but help us to get the f*** chinafarmer ...
would help the support too, because the player would clear the game from the farmer - and the GMs & Support wouldnt get any petis about them anny more

Edited by: Master OlavPancrazio on 09/07/2007 21:36:36 I log off tons in enemy space only to log back on and decimate a few ratters that have absolutely no fore-warning I'm coming. It's unfair for them and advantageous for me.
To the same note, people can log off whenever some comes into local and never have to fear about getting killed (I've seen freighters do this).
It would certainly help people defend their space better and deter some of the more lame people from risking their ships in 0.0
IE, it would make going into 0.0 more serious. If you actually get caught in a blobbed system with none of your own pos, the enemy will actually be able to kill your entire fleet.
On the other hand, the server is not perfect. There is many times you'll just randomly crash and or DC. Just imagine how many people are going to be killed because they crashed and couldn't log back in before a 30 second prober probed them down.

Well I think that you should ewarp and remain in system for at least 5 minutes before you disappear, no matter what. And if you are scrammed you cant disappear/ewarp, even after the 5 minutes are up.
5 minutes should be long enough to stop the ever-popular jump+log tactics. . Do not read this thread!!!

Edited by: Trustus on 10/07/2007 10:49:25 I would like to see a 5min counter if you log off in space without no reason aka "Neutral/Enemy" jump into the system, and 15min if you have been aggroed by some1.
Login off should NOT be a way of escape from any danger, this is not how the game is intended to be played.
In addition ccp should remove cloakers on ships NOT intended to use then, Only cov ops and reacon or similar ships should be able to use them.
/T
ps!
Hate cloak bs and hate people loging off as soon I enter a system.

Horrible idea and very poor arguments.
Not everyone has stations and pos to dock safely, nor are those things something everyone should be going for in this game, and you can't say too bad to those people. 0.0 is for everyone, even pirates.

Well there should be a way to find cloaked ships, its probably going to require pobes & sov . Do not read this thread!!!

It's a good idea and a bad Idea.
Good Idea to catch those pesky ratters that log off whenever you jump into system.
Bad Idea. Sneaking in cyno ships would become very problematic. Also, Say you were ratting at night, and you were dog tired. You went 7 or 8 jumps away from your base, and are falling asleep. So you log off in space. Now what would stink is someone comes along and scans the system, pops you, and steals your gear when in all reality you would have kicked their teeth in.
I'd like to see a 15 minute window for the ctrl+q monkies. But for someone who is logging off for the day, their should be a log off command that has a 3 minute countodwn (plenty of time to be scanned out if your trying to log and hide.) It cannot be activated in warp and once activated you cannot move without breaking the counter. However after you log off you are unscannable, unlike someone who ctrl+q and tries to hide, who would be scannable for 15 minutes

I used to agree with this line of thinking until yesterday...
There I was doing my thing in 0.0 when suddenly (without any real warning) there was a clap of Thunder outside my window. I had come in not 15 mins prior and it was clear. I tried to make my way to the station, but the next clap of Thunder and the following lightning bolt and my power was out.
It took the power company 15 hours to restore the power to my neighborhood.
So, if there had been hostiles in the system I would have been free game for 15 mins.
I didn't choose to log off, I didn't logoffski, I had no way to get on to either get to a station or as the OP says "get to empire to log"

Thunderstorms and crashing from EVE can not be controlled.
Crashing from EVE generaly happens when there are lots of people in system and you are most likely going to be killed anyway. Thunderstorms is just bad luck and if someone does scan you down it would be something you'd have to live with.Life is not fair.
I stand firm with my original post that loggin in 0.0 for any reason should be penalized.

Well, there should be two options: Time-Out should result in an instant log-off... Who would press the reset-button to produce that one? Thunderstorms and crashes will result in a timeout... However, logoffs through the normal quit button or alt-q (or the x) should generally result in a 5 minutes logout timer, not only in zero. Let the ships always warp to safe distances, then wait 5 minutes... Seriously, you don't really want every dumbass to be able to track you down... I expect the zero space to be at least a LITTLE demanding...

It's not really up to people to look for you, if you use the game mechanics as they are now, its impossible. It's just dumb to look at it like "oh well, the people looking for me need to use more skill !111"

Hell, i'd go so far as to say the same should apply in empire too, and it shouldn't jsut be 15 minutes, your ship should stay there until either it gets blown up or you log back in...

There should be an option or a button that when selected/activated would start a visible countdown. I'd say 3 minutes. When counter reaches zero the client automatically disconects, unless the user cancels it.
