Everyday I take a look at the CAOD forums for one reason. To see whats going on around EVE and to see where the big fights been at that night. But more and more often im coming onto CAOD and there are stupid people posting on their alts about stupid stuff. The most recent is band0fdevs posting hes not happy at the lack of a molle post this month.
Now I know CCP has said in the past that posting with alts will not be accepted anymore and thats when the display your corp/alliance info came in. Thats not working. People are creating stupid corps. band0fdevs character is in a corp called Band of Dev's. Posts by characters like this should not only be locked but should be removed. The purpose of the CAOD forums are being abused.

Hmm, to see what is going on...
Well, I want to see that also! So I look at BoB killboard, Razor and a few other KBs. That is quickly done, no big hassle with that. Also I look at the automated influence map and changes can be seen there also. And _then_ I look at CAOD and usually there is nothing at all which wasn't on the other sources first. But ... the kb's and the map are really helpful!
Lots of spam here, true enough.

I swear I was about to open this same thread and about the very same char (band0fdevs).
I know it's difficult to say for sure if someone is an alt as there are so many corps but PLEASE there're some who are so very obvious, and coincidentally they're some of the biggest trolls this forum has to suffer.

love to read this but seeing alts all the time is pretty sad
I mean goonswarm can be ennoying here but at least they use there main I personaly dislike it more when people act like that on a alt.
I mean you are already behind a char (nobody know you irl)so it is not your rl that is affected by your post here only your ingame here. so why post on a alt then I mean if your alliance don't want you to act on here then stay out or find a alliance that don't care about it.

I may also read these forums to see whats going on.Apart from that I'm not interested in getting involved in topics on the CAOD forums because they are garbage.Specially recently.
Nothing can be done though,there will always be trollers, whiners, attention getting fake-quitters, and people who just want to ruin it for others.So I'll just slide back into the shadows and look for them in-game... |

From my empire days i was visiting CAOD to be informed about what was going on with wars or alliances etc. It was my only source of information since KBs and Map cannot tell the whole story. Since then Looking at CAOD is realy like looking into a garbage truck, mostly rubish with the certain existance of a $20 bill that nobody cares to search.
So nowadays and since COAD is like this since my first visit i seriously read it like a comic where alts and flame rule the universe. And of seing some real amound ofcourse silliness makes me feel smarter

Good to see everyone agrees. So whats CCP going to do about this problem. I want something done to prevent these idiots posting crap or just perma baning people that are constant spammers of the CAOD forums. IMO thats better than just locking the stupid thread over and over again. So if someone from CCP could please give me a reason why this couldnt happen or any other ideas they have that would be great.

What's up with the complaints about alt threads ? Don't like a thread of a 1-man-corp, don't read it. Not every thread is for you, me, whoever in particular.
Guess some people want censorship, so that others can't read those things either, even if some people might be interested in it.
That's also the idiotic thing that Remedial practiced. Every one says: 'Post with your main or don't post at all.' and then someone like Remedial gets his powerrush and kicks a corp mate for posting with his main, because he has violated the alliance's don't post rule ... and people applaud.
I mean if it had been a post that brings his alliance/corp into bad trouble, it would be a bit different, but just a short post.
Idiotic, you'll never see something like that in my corp, because we respect eachother as friends. It's not like there is one general on top and the other members are just numbers, who get kicked out for saying something on EVE-O. That's just stupid.

There should also be a mechanic whereby if a certain number of people report a thread, its automaticly locked untill a moderator has a look at it. (unfortunately this would no doubt be abused as well though)
Also I think rather than locking threads, quite a few of them should be locked and everything but the op deleted, or just stright up deleted.
I would definately back any proposal to clean up the forums.

C'mon CCP, when people from both sides of the greatest conflict currently in EVE agree on something, surely that's saying something (De-synchs aside). These forums add a lot to the game we play however, that's being ruined by alts. Please, please take note and do something.

There are very few measures they could take to help alleviate the issue, the most obvious and most effective would be just make the dam channel 'alliance discussion' (or if not, MAKE a section on forums for strictly alliance discussion)
Sure, some guy out there is so hard over posting on an alt they will pay the fee to start their alt alliance, but it would be a big step in the right direction.

gotta agree with the OP, although it needs to be handled on a case by case basis some people do like to speak freely of what they see without fear of reprimand by their corporation, or without speaking for the others, but when it gets into the crap that band0fdev seems to do, there heeds to be a limit.

Before there were alliances, there were corporations. When an alliance dissolves, there are still corporations. Besides, some of us non-allied people have a stake in what's going on here. Sure I understand that one person alternate corporations cause conflict, but you must admit that a number of people that DON'T hide behind an alt should shut their word holes and have their posting privileges revoked as well.
This particular segment of the forum is supposed to be about discussion about and between various game entities, but all people do is stroke their e-peen and verbally ********** their comrades. People also need to remember that in this particular forum, it's a player talking to another player, and people need to be mindful of that. Comments like "Who are you?" serve no purpose other than to derail a thread and totally dismiss the opinion of a member of the same community you belong to. You wouldn't like it if someone totally brushed you off that way, so don't do it to someone else.
Save the sniping and mudslinging for the Summit, where such in character action should be confined. I say this simply because this is a game FFS, and the vast majority of you people are adults. Act like it.

I completeley disagree thats why I support you in this spam thread. Lets face it ur thread adds noting to CAOD other then its spam and u venting ur personal frustration. If you would have been able to control yourself you would have had 1 less spamthread. :-) The more attention u give to spam the more spam there will be.

Before there were alliances, there were corporations. When an alliance dissolves, there are still corporations. Besides, some of us non-allied people have a stake in what's going on here. All due respect to your corp, but sometimes my spam filter catches an email from Amazon. That doesn't mean I turn it off.
If CAOD is vital to your in-game goings-on (and, let's face it, for many alliances, it is), a billion isk to start an alliance, or three-quarters of a billion or so to buy an existing one, is a small price to pay. Furthermore, I'd fully expect that any solution that involved transformation of CAOD into alliance-only would also include an additional forum for alliance-less corporations to also post.
Since the forum software adds "edit" links to my posts, I know the pages aren't cached. Why not, then, add an option to ignore/filter posters, corporations, or alliances of your choosing? That'd go a long way towards eliminating the Queen News and Ollobrains of this world.

TBH I find "Band of Devs" very very derogatory and insulting. I don't walking around calling Goons a bunch of terrorists, I mean they were basically are committing acts of cyber-terrorism against CCP.

You're right, it isn't that expensive. EARN actually had an alliance in the works, until one of the Corps we were coordinating with fell through. Since then, in addition to the cleaning of house and setting our recruitment standards higher, we've put all alliance ambitions on hold. We want to do it on our own, and have the alliance formed on our terms. As easy as it would be to buy into an alliance or pay someone to create one for us, that's against the spirit of Earned In Blood.
Besides, you don't need to be an alliance member to shoot someone 
People are well intentioned about wanting to address the alt corporation issue, and maybe there should be a higher level forum dedicated to alliance discussion only. Just don't take CAOD from us peons. Quote:

Also,

Using a "stupid" corporation to post an opinion about ingame politics, conflicts, etc yada yada is not equivalent to abusing the forums. Alt posts don't kill forums, stupid posting does.
