What I enjoy about this game is how open ended it is. You truely have the ability to become what you want. Good or bad...it's all up to you. Some choices for earning your keep in Eve may not be as profitable as others...but there are ALOT of ways you can earn that bread...which is cool.
Also, I find that this game more than others I've tried, reflects our differing human natures superbly in-game. The fact that CCP has created a game in which such a wide array of activity is not only possible but encouraged, is amazing.
One more thing I like about this game, is how your reputation is as important, as it is in real life. The tools available to players for researching other players is great. The game is also beyond big...and as long as you enjoy the setting for the game, I think you will have a great time fleshing out your in game character.
The sheer amount of different personalities in this world is IMHO possibly the single greatest feature in this game. The people playing. Good or bad, they colour this galaxy with rich diversity. The miners have their place, as do the pirates and the builders, and the traders, and so-on.....Without any of these groups, I think the game would be a bit poorer. Maybe I'm just babbling now, because I like the game so much...:) The kick ass graphics are simply icing on the cake.
I'd say that if you have patience, then get settled in and enjoy the game. I think it will be going strong for more than the six months you mentioned. More players will come...but you know what? Given the games steep learning curve and it's brutally unforgiving nature for noobs, I believe it keeps the trashtalking CS type out of the game. (no offence to anyone here) Over all I find the maturity level in game to be quite high compared to other online games. There are always exceptions, but I generally avoid those I do not wish to associate with.
Overall, I think you enjoy your stay.
