i would like to say it would of been a nice fight to all you in atlas alliance and chaos inc. but with 100 + people in local and everyone on the gate it so lagged out that it was about 1-2 fps. it would of been fun to all but again ccp failed us in a very big way. i would tell everyone to petition loses do to the lag.

yup, was looking like a great fight - union forces had 60+ in gang, CI/Atlas fleet had about 30+, with capital ship support.
they jumped in, and after the primaries went down both sides were lucky to even be able to lock, let alone run a module.
My pest was destroyed but i didnt enter a pod for about 5 mins :(
Ive said it before and ill say it again - either put in some viable anti-blob tools for us in lowsec or make it so that the servers dont die the instant the fun starts :/

CCP, please do whatever you need to do to make it possible for us to have fleet engagements that don't turn into complete slideshows.

Had all the makings of an extremely fun fight. Maybe even one of those 'fair fights' both sides has been calling for. :)
And the above poster was right: this was not an FPS issue, this was a lag issue. No control of ships for well over a minute after I gave commands to my pod. More resources to Molden Heath, please!
And CI/ATLAS, we'll see you in space for some smaller gang warfare in the near future.

Please dont imply you had any chance in that fight - half our force was cap ships...
But the lag was cripping, for both sides.

we had cap ships on standby, but couldnt get them to the fight because of the lag :(
still, your down some of your cap ships since comeing here - your cap ships dont worry us too much. im saying it would have been a GF, not that we would have won (or lost) without lag.
anyways, getting off topic - lag is bad, mmmkay?

Edited by: Bobby Atlas on 08/07/2007 20:20:43 The lag was something awful but I have come to expect that kind of lag and we planned for that kind of lag in our execution of the hit on the camp. Likewise we had a bunch of dreads docked ready to warp in on the gate but the lag was as awful for them as everyone else. We can all agree the node power on this engagement was less than adequate.
All in all a very good fight was had, enjoyed it very much.

Win or lose it would have been nice to find out without the lag interfering, fps wasn't to bad to begin with but I noticed that the more ships that targetted you the worse it got. Coincidence maybe I don't know. I did ctd at one stage but not sure if it was server/client at fault or my isp so can't comment on the cause.
Was an interesting fight if slightly frustrating, local was completly smack free the entire time from both sides.
Props to CI/Atlas for the scrap and to jumping through in the first place.

Erm, should that be a battle report?
Please say who was on involved on both sides, what ships were used, what was lost? Who held the field in the end? What might this battle mean in the bigger picture - was it just a skirmish or an important and deciding battle?

Edited by: Cz Ire on 08/07/2007 20:35:40 Gnulpie - weve been fighting each other for about a month now since CI came to atlar to pirate, but this was the largest single engagement to date.
I dont think that either side would say this is a crucial battle (at least, were not), but its frustrating when we have this many people and cant fight. theres no systems in place to prevent blobbing in lowsec, so thats what both sides pretty much are forced to do.
CI with atlas support have started to go after our POS's, so the gatecamp was to meet their demolition fleet (the pos was already repped by that point, so both sides just basically came for the fight at that point)
no capital ships were destroyed on either side in this engagment, so aside from everyone getting irritated at the lag, buisness as usual.

The nodes in molden heath appear to be VERY unhealthy.
The "lag" in molden heath is FPS lag, 1 frame per second even with fights like 30 vs 30.
It is really destroying all the fun.

There was other lag than just FPS. As soon as I jumped through my ship refused to move and my overview wouldn't update, although I could still activate mods. Relogging fixed that, but then I hit about 0.01 FPS lol

well no lag has NOTHING to do with fps I mean jsut because the server isn't sending information and thus your srceen hiccups showing less frams per second has nothing to do with lag nope. not at all.
oh wait.. it does! haha wow I wish you could come to digipen and get owned by everyone smarter than me I really do
lag effects how many screens you get per second.
or are you saying that fraps works find under lag? ----------------------------------- I'm working my way through college target CCP |

yes fraps works fine under lag. your hardware determines fps, not network latency or the server preformance which are the two things considered to be lag. if you get fps lag it is because you either need a better computer, or you don't have the foresight to read up on configuring your eve client to run properly. the server sending you information slowly will not reduce your fps, in fact, quite the opposite. if the server send s you too much information for your crappy computer to handle, you may get a little fps lag while your 1994 cpu tries to catch up. ---

That's not the point. The point is, this thread proves that I can make 123123 threads about each lagged battle I'm in and that totally rocks.

if you get fps lag it is because you either need a better computer....
then everybody in that battle must have had bad computers, rofl
of course it has nothing to do with the server nodes or the game programming itself o/

I was pulling 90+fps at the beginning but as soon as the wrecks started accumulating it crawled down to ~20fps. Honestly it was the node. I was trying to target people (that were still in my overview, mind you) that were no longer there i.e.: dead or warped out.
Good fight boys. Too bad you didn't bring your caps out for the fun.
