Keep pushing at them... Most of us that can will leave them, but make as much noise as you can while youre still there!
Let Tiscali know that we cant let ISP's behave this way!

Originally by: FordCortina hello, i have been having this problem with tiscali and logging onto eve online for nearly a week now, since i started playing eve. i have phoned every day about it,and everytime i get some different excuse as to why i cant log on during peak times.first it was a fault on the line, then it was BT fault, then it was something to do with being in the country..lol. but the best was today, first i was told that umlimited broadband doesnt mean unlimited data transfer but as i specificaly asked for umlimited as i play a lot on online games i checked my contract, and accourding to tiscali that means unlimited time online not data..strange.but the icing on the cake was when they put me thro to billing to query this,i was told that tiscali IS BLOCKING THE GAME AT PEAK TIMES!he fully admitted it,that they(tiscali) is blocking Eve online at peak times cos of bandwidth restrictions they put on it at peak times..even for 8 meg users.he then hung up on me when i pushed the question farther.
gonna enjoy phoning trading standards and ofcom on monday :)
Lies lies lies... Thats all Tiscali have. There may well be staff who dont, but unfortunately they get tarred with the same brush. You can never know which staff is lying and which isnt cos they all tell you different things.
It might get fixed soon... Keep hammering tiscali forums with complaints.
Give them a couple of weeks tbh, thats all im giving them now, theyve had 5 months of my patience.

Edited by: N4PALM on 21/11/2007 18:22:03 I cant stress this enough...
Keep pushing them... dont let up.
Dont bother with tech support phoneline, get on Tiscali forums and keep on pushing at them.
Why should you break and leave? Youre paying for a service that they arent providing. They dont state that they will block whatever the hell they like, whenever the hell they like. But they do, youve paid to use the internet. Make sure you actually get to use the whole internet as you expect from them.
Dont let them break you
Break them!

I'm really not going to look back. I mean I'm paying a bit more cos I dont have call's included in my 19.99, I've changed them back to BT.
As for the new ISP... I'm amazed at how good they are. Just serves to highlight Tiscali's lies. Yes speed drops in the evenings as it will with any isp, but as yet I've never seen it drop lower than 2meg. Speeds dropping as low as dial up speed with Tiscali was unacceptable.
Whats more I've got a really decent connection that allows me access to EVE, doesnt drop out its spot on.
Tiscali really are that bad! Why on earth are you still with them?

Edited by: N4PALM on 21/01/2008 06:43:41 Those who have recieved the eve mail about contacting Ofca for a so called solution to the not being able to connect issue.
Sorry Ofca but I recommend users dont do this. Ofca is cashing in on yr troubles and it may not even be safe for you to do so. This looks to me to be him setting up a proxy, and thats all good but...
You dont know who he is, do you really want your EVE traffic going through his server which includes yr login password.
AND why pay isk to this guy for this service when there are free alternatives out there already. If you read these various Tiscali related threads you will know this. I posted the following solution on these very forums months ago, it was the only way I could connect at the time. (For a permanent solution leave Tiscali FFS its not hard to do, do it already, Tiscali suck)
HTTP-Tunnel Is a free app that will solve your problems. I was using this program for months before I finally left Tiscali for a better ISP. There is also a paid version of HTTP-Tunnel that gives you a higher bandwidth service which I also used to pay for, costs soemthing like ú2.50 per month and you can pay by paypal.
So you have the option of a reliable service that works already and you would be dealing with a proper company not just some guy on EVE that you dont know.
P.S. I realise Ofca is probably just trying to help, and it may well be genuine, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt be cautious of such offers. --- I'm in yr posts dleetin all yr sigs - Cortes Fight the power! - Cortes |
