Might be SLIGHTLY helpful, but in most instances, if you can't identify it by type, you probably can't use it anyway.
#2 Add a shuttle service where for an additional 5-10% you can have any item bought on the marketplace shuttled to you from anywhere in the region.(I have having to fly 9 jumps out of my way just to pick up a single module)
And make lowsec even more dead?! I get a bit annoyed flying long distances too, but the way it's setup now allows for regional/system economics to play a big part in the economy. You can usually get that item closer then 9 jumps, you just may have to pay a bit more for that convienence.
#3 Create rat outposts in high sec areas where ratters can get a constant flow of creds.
Ratting is profitable enough, even in highsec, especially since you don't have to worry about pirates jumping in on your fight. If you want the bigger ISKies, take the risk involved in moving to lowsec or nullsec.
#3 Create whole sectors controlled by rats, these sectors would have different sec ratings as well so low to high end players can group up and spend hours clearing a sector of rats.
Two number 3's? See my answer to the previous #3. No need to speed up the income for ratting. And if you make these "sectors" have different sec statii (<-- is that right?) then you still have the risk of the big mean pirates ruining your fun...
#4 Have mining lasers give a continuous flow of ore. Instead of a 60 ore dump after 60 seconds, 1 ore per second. It would make mining slightly less boring, superficial really.
Meh, wouldn't bother me. The only side effect is you would be quicker to move out if you were moving in lowsec and someone showed up in local. As it is, you have to decide to wether it's worth it to finish the cycle first or forget that cycle and jet.
#5 Tie sec rating losses in with the players skill points. A player with 10 million SP should lose more sec for attacking a player than someone with 800k sp. Simply because it's so much easier for a veteran player to regain sec.
It's not easy to raise sec rating as it stands. It's a very uphill battle. BUT, if you were to implement #3 above, then I guess it would be pretty easy, having so many rats to kill in such close proximity. As besides, as has been stated, most pirates don't care now and won't care then.
#6 Make it easier for new players to get into trading, and create a skill that reduces the distance from warps with autopilot, maybe reducing it down to 5km from jumps instead of 15km.
Don't use autopilot. True, the tutorial doesn't tell you about warp to zero and the benefits of flying manually, and it probably should. Most players figure it out within a day or two from the rookie channel though.
