You should nnot try to tank a sniper fleet you are thinking PVP.
If you are thinking PVE, armor plates are non-sense. Plates are PVP stuff, repairers are PVE.
Find a way to fit all 6 guns for god's sake, drop the heavy missile launchers if needed. Get a ACR rig if needed.
If you want PVE I would say. Try 6x 1200mm 2 Assault launchers 1 LAr 2 Gyro 3 HArdeners (or 2 EANM + hardeners). 1 or 2 Track computer in mids.
Tempest are quite high SP ship. With lower SP the maelstrom is much better.
If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough |

TBH, the Tempest is not a low skill ship in the first place I have maxxed fitting skills and I still have trouble getting everything to fit sometimes.

it is usually better to use all slots (maybe not all high, but at least all turret slots) than to fit big things
fit 1200mm, preferably 'scout'. then focus on tank
remember that there is modules that increase both cpu and pg. use the ones that increse the one you are short of.
what are you trying to do with the ship? pvp, rat or missions?

Ships have crews, most pod controlled frigates do not, above that they have crews of varying sizes. Hope that helps.

With low skills 1400's are hard to use effectively, have you thought about running Autocannon's? Tracking is good and its very easy to fit a decent tank, just fit a speed mod to get in range.
What did you actually want to do with this ship, missions?

Haven't checked in game to see how old you are but new characters get good shield/armor skills, you dont realy give much info, you can shield tank then fit damage mods in lows.
Or armor tank 1-2 reps 3 hardeners, damage control, and possible a damage mod (depending on how many reps) Lot depends on your skills.

But the mael can fit 3 gyros instead of 1 and still have a good tank.
Originally by: Tuxford I have already expressed my personal opinion on this and it was very positive (something about happy in the pants).

yes, if you want to TANK it as well. but you did not state that.
that is why shield tank is great!! (as long as you dont want any tackling gear)

Dont fly a BS with low skills - you will just get ganked by one decent frig pilot - it happens all the time in losec, its the old story of noob bs ratting Vs an experienced AF pilot. You can fly a t2 fitted cruiser on your way to a t2 fitted BS (which is what you need to survive in a BS) - so why waist 100 mil on a tempest when you will be FAR more effective in a plated rupture.

If you want it for pvp - forget it and grab a hurricane. If you want it for pve a typhoon would be much better (or maelstrom if you have decent gunnery and shield skills)

Low Skill Req Tempest....
There is no such thing.
Rush into a BS and you will become a comedy killmail when someone who stuck to smaller ships kills you. Or if you are not pvp'ing then you will make more isk per hour running lvl3's in a BC your skills can support better.
