Hiya,
I've been playing SWG again for a few days (stop laughing!) -
and one of the things I kinda like is the fact you can disable a ship - then board it - (basically target the ship's engine or reactor - ie: no more power to do anything) - then you can just dock to it - and take whatever you need for your mission -
Now if this could be implemented in eve in a way - it could make pvp - ransoming more... fun in a way - You could evener finally have a use for those marines guys !-
Picture this - piwats ransom you - disable your ship - and board you (chances to get more loot as looting the ship before it get pops = nothing has popped yet ;) ) - then imagine you have let's say 100 marines or so in your cargo - upon being docked, the agressor's ship get's taken over by your marines (and for example the ship turns into a concord npc or something ) - and start attacking the piwats - while you get a single shot at running - before your engine fails again -
Of course, some incentive would be needed for piwats wanting to take the risk of boarding a ship - but I reckon this could be fun :D - -------------------------------------------------- No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. -------------------------------------------------- |

LoL... Imagine pirates having their cargo bays filled half with ammo half marines...
Someone should bring in those "Character Bonuses" that still exist in the Database and have them randomly added to a character... The ones I like most are Monophobia - Character dies after one hour without docking at a station. A Pilot like that could never become a pirate! Claustrophobia - Character dies after 5 minutes floating in a Pod... Okay, 5 minutes are a little short, maybe 15 minutes would do it...
I don't remember the exact name, but there was one bonus that made the pilot eject from a ship that has less than 25% structural integrity...

This has been bought up before, and was even suggested as a 1st person shooter. Kinda another game within the game.

What risk? They would just have an industrial filled to the brim with marines standing by for the boarding actions.
...CCP steps in and doesn't allow industrials to board.
Ok, an exeq with T2 cargo expanders and rigs and gal cruiser V filled to the brim.
And you make the boarding in SWG sound like a lot more then it actually is. It just makes your ship hump the other ship, which triggers the script to drop an item in your inventory. Any actual cargo on board of the disabled ship remains inaccesible.

By making boarding teams a sloted mod (maybe low slots) will solve the problem or the mega indy boarding party.

Its been suggested many times, but to do it using current game mechanics would be impossible without creating a situation that encourages massive griefing. Perhaps sometime in the future. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?
