Edited by: Fantec on 12/07/2007 15:14:18 Today my brother send me an SMS the he forgot to extend his account and could not play anymore. To get another GTC would take him a week. (transfer from normal account to CC)
As I am not the most evil person in the universe (honest.. I'm not) I offer to pay a month for him in GTC's)
Normally I use the Direct debit option for my account, but in this case I decide to buy a GTC from shatteredcrystal.com.
I place the order, pay the money with my CC, wait for the GTC.
No here is where it gets totally insane.
Shatteredcrystal.com send me an Email:
We called to verify your order but you were not available. When you are available for our call, please let us know and we will try calling you again.
I reply that my phone is working normally and ask the question why I need to be bothered on my phone for this. I also send the my phone number in case they have the wrong number.
Again Shatteredcrystal.com send me an Email:
I'm sorry but we can only call the number listed in PayPal. We can do one of two things from here: 1) We can call the current number at a later time. 2) We can cancel/refund the order and have you change the info before reordering.
Please let us know how you would like us to proceed,
Getting a little irritated I update my phone number at PayPal. Then I've send Shatteredcrystal.com an e-mail to explain that I almost never use PayPal for payments and the phone number was outdated. Again I give them my correct current number.
Again Shatteredcrystal.com send me an Email:
The number in your recent email is not the number on your order. PayPal requires that we only call the number on the order. I am refunding your payment. Please update your phone number and place your order again.
This is nuts.. I pay for something, the money gets deducted from my CC, so they have my money yet they will not deliver.
Next I send them an e-mail so cancel my order because they will not deliver the product I payed for.
And low and behold.. my money gets refunded partially
Again I send the an email to give them a chance to refund the payed money fully.
Again Shatteredcrystal.com send me an Email:
Have you looked at your PayPal balance for the refund? We show that at 0716 PST hours on July 12 that you were refunded $14.99 to your PayPal account. I apologize if you are having issues with our ordering system. This system works fine for a majority of our customers. I will take your concerns under consideration.
Now I have looked in my PayPal account. Some of the money is missing. Its not the amount that I transfered to Shatteredcrystal.com.
So let this be a lesson to you all. If you deal with Shatteredcrystal.com, you may get riped off.
(and yes.. I'm reporting this to PayPal as an offence)

Edited by: LaVista Vista on 12/07/2007 15:17:19 Edited by: LaVista Vista on 12/07/2007 15:16:33 Im NEVER gonna use shatteredcrystal again.
They bought evetimecode.com, where i used to buy my timecodes. I went to buy on the site a few weeks ago, and without question my order was rejected. I asked why, and i spend 6 hours with them in emails. They wanted a picture of my passport and an utility bill, to proceed my order. It took them several hours to refund my order, after i gave up.
The problem isnt shatteredcrystal, its trust who
And now im marked as having tried to fraud my ID.. GREAT!

Timecard/Item purchases are major high targets for credit card fraud. Since when a fraud case occurs, usually the merchant themselves ends up eating the cost of the goods. Of the 3 different GTC sites I've used, all have required a phonecall to verify identity. What you say is nothing new, and get used to it as more and more purchases on the internet will be going this way. Its only that bad for the first time you make a purchase, once you're verified, it takes less than 30 seconds to get a card # from them.

In my case they had already called twice before, with no problem, before trustwho came into the picture.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, except they didn't even bother to call or might have missed the country prefix in my phone number.
I got a mail almost instantly saying my ID couldn't be verified, couldn't be reached by phone yadda yadda yadda, hence I was a scammer etc ... Yet the refund part went smooth.
I'll never understand why I can't get timecodes directly from CCP simply using my credit card instead of having to go through third party vendors using something as untrusted as paypal ... |

Possibly has something to do with inside the US versus not inside the US? TrustWho has never been involved for me

Edited by: Ander on 12/07/2007 15:30:15 A little bird told me shatteredcrystal is involved in-game currency for some MMO's on sub-sites and related websites owned by shatteredcrystal... Ill try to get it verified though.
Edit: Found the proof now. Use the search-term "shatteredcrystal uo gold" on google and you will see. I wonder why CCP allows a company that sells UO gold and WOW gold etc to be reseller for their GTC's?

I have no problems with shattered crystal.
You gave them an out-of-date phone number and then were angry when they had to cancel your order? Well boo on them for protecting your credit card.

Also he owns http://store.mmoglider.com/ which is a WOW Bot, violating the WOW Eula.

Er that's your own stupid fault for not reading the details properly and updating your PayPal account accordingly BEFORE placing the order. An fool can see it is done to reduce the chance of internet fraud from using someone else's paypal details. ShatteredCrystal in this instance were totally in the right and have refunded you the money. If not all the money has come back then I can pretty much garauntee that this wasn't an intentional rip off. Don't tarnish a company with the 'rip-off' brush just because you messed up due to an inability to read stuff properly. Obviously when you don't read things properly and follow the instructions as intended then you increase the chance that things can go wrong on the way.
Personally i've used SC numerous times for GTCs, they only ring once to confirm you are the legitimate paypal owner and then that sets your account as verified no longer requiring phone calls for further orders. Thumbs up from me, my GTCs have arrived by mail within 10 minutes everytime.

Bought a 30D Planetside GTC from them to try the game out, they rang me and confirmed all my details and then I got the code in an email and a week later the actual card in the post.
No problems aside from the high pitched voice on the other end of the phone.
I think it's a fantastic security measure and I am definately using them again, despite other people's issues.

Have used SC many times and have been completely satisfied with their service. The very first time I used it, they called me within minutes and I got the code immediately after. Every time since, I get the code within minute via email with no worries.
Sorry you had an issue with it by not understanding how they operate, however their initial security verification method is a good idea.
And I used paypal every time I've ordered.

Gotha add my 2 cents too.
After the first call which was done within 5 minutes i got my timecode within seconds. After that i was a veryfied customer and can order timecodes automatically. Now i get my codes within minutes of ordering by mail.
I recommend using Shatteredcrystal.com Just READ the instruction like the OP stupidly forgot to do.

I've bought maybe 15 cards, from them. I would highly recommend them, they called me about an hour after my first order, the guy on the other end of the phone was friendly and efficient, asked me a couple of questions to verify i lived at the address listed. About 5 mins after that my card was sent, ofc that is only for new customers.
Ever since, i receive my codes about 30 seconds after i make payment. Efficient and fast.

Used them I don't know how often, but I never had any problems at all with them. You really should have read the site carefully, then you would have known they require a phone to call, and thus, provided a correct and working number. But yea, had no problem, recommend them to others. "Return with your shield, or on it." |
