I thought i knew it but now i'm confused as to how red flashy icon mode goes on...
i was just hauling in my mammoth, semi-afk mode. browsing web and such. flip to screen every once in a while to check in, sound on to hear targetting sound effect. so i flip back to eve and maximie my windowed eve client. im approaching a gate and this guy on the overview is red. he isn't targetting me, i don't think (passive targetter? dono much about anything, im a noob), i have no damage, nothings flying toward me... and i mean i don't have cans to steal from or something... so how was he red flashy? and was i in any real danger? i warped away once i saw red flashy.

Edited by: Gojyu on 13/07/2007 07:29:56 Means he has a sec status of -5 or lower, you're allowed to kill (but not pod) him anywhere in empire space without concord interfering

Keep in mind you can change the Color and enable/disable blinking in the Overview Settings.

I wonder if people ever read the FAQs or even test the stuff they post ...
Anyway, the OP did not mention if he was in 0.0, low- or hi-sec, if he is in war or carries any kill rights ... so it's not that simple.
Reasons for flashing red in general:
- Global agression (target commited a crime recently) - Combat agression (target attacked you) - Thievery (target stole from you or your corp recently) - War target (self-explaining) - Sec status (target carries a sec status below or equal -5) - Kill rights (you have kill rights on your target) - Dumb overview settings
And one thing to be clear about:
You are in fact allowed to destroy anything including a pod anywhere on Tranquility. You may face consequences though within game mechanics like getting concordokened for podding an opponent in hi-sec that is not in war with you.
An exception to this rule might me repetitive podding of newbies and alike.

Wrong on that little part... I'm pretty sure outlaws with -5 or lower security status are allowed to be podded anywhere without consequence.

The guide say that -5 and lower sec status people can be freely podded, but there is a very small number of high sec dweller that will test that, more so as he can be flashi red for other causes that don't allow podding.

Don't believe them, you are not allowed to pod people below -5 in empire. Concord will destroy you

I once podkilled a GM that was sitting in a pod in Yulai once that was a -5.05 sec status, he had 2 spaces in his name
So yeah, you can do it.

When I'm out hunting rats (player pirates) in pods, I use a cheap frig.
It's great sport and you can make a nice trophy collection (and good money in many occasions).
Not mentioning that you punish them for their crimes against peacefull people. (That's why they have the negative standing)
Blow the RATS TODAY to have a peacefull tomorrow.

i'll keep that in mind...
and sorry for not being specific enough. i was in high sec (but not 1.0), he did not attack me as far as i can tell, didn't steal from me, not at war or kill rights'd. so i'm assuming now that it's the -5 or lower sec thing or he committed a crime recently.
Also, Stephanie from lazytown is hot and she's legal in iceland where the show is filmed. |
