Lol the best thing was a raketeer jumping up and down on this very forum shouting that some darstadly corp had posted a kill mail that was different to the rak mail , and claiming they must be guilty of so many other nefarious deeds , only to have a rak official point out that the rak posted mail was the modified one . LOOL so forgive us all for demanding buckets of salt with rak posts about kills .

I believe that was due to our killboard not accepting faction missiles so they were changed to the standard equivalent. But yeah that was quite funny.

Ransoming then killing is dishonourable, lame, whatever, I understand why one chooses not to care about this.
BUT if you plan on making some isk out of non-consensual pvp, you should honor your ransoms because sooner or later you'll have to blow up nice modules or some cap ship pilot will self-destruct just because the guy you hold knows your corp doesnt honour ransoms.
You also have to understand some pirates will be upset by your post : sometimes ransoms are the only way to make decent isk (IE when you catch a poorly fitted ship); and it SUCKS when the target tells you "I won't pay cause I know people who got killed anyway" or something similar.
In the end you screw up professional pirates' business by lowering their global reputation (that's why some people will call you dishonourable/not respect worthy, etc, even though its only a matter of business IMHO).

Anyone paying ransoms needs to be taught a harsh, expensive lesson -- prats are in it for the killmail, not the ISK. Any time there's a discussion on whether to pay/honor ransoms, I'll just link to this post. That way people with more money than brains can imagine what it would be like to be the in the poor popped fool's place and make the correct decision the first time around.

What a stupid generalization. Many pirates have raised their voices in this and many other threads about how they actually see this issue. You just show your ignorance. But ofc. you are entitled to believe what you like.
One thing is true though. Pirates do like kills. So if you decide not to pay ransom you will definitely get killed. The pirate wins either way. So don't think this will help a bit if your goal is to make them stop.

actually, i am a bit impressed. he went to great lengths to kill that monster. and showed impressive skill in switching ships like that to consumate the kill.
i just dont approve of dishonoring ransoms. i kinda think thats one of the lamest things to do in eve... maybe not as lame as baiting 1 day olds with cans labelled "free stuff", but its up there.

A good use of basic tactics to get the first ransom paid, should have honoured that imo.
If you hadn't received the payment then it was an excellent use of tactics to finish the fight....problem for me is that you were paid, twice and a lot more than you expected.
I'm not judging, it just leaves a bad taste for me and ultimately you'll be losing income yourselves.

I am still wondering why people feel the need to let us know we are ruining our reputations. I was under the impression that previous threads about us have made it clear that the only reputation we are after is a bad one. We have no need to be bada$$ pirates, people hate us and we thrive off of it.
On another note. It saddens me to see people creating requirements to be a 'pirate'. The standards they put fourth seem more like the requirements to be a Boy Scout or a Campfire Girl. Obviously, everyones idea of a pirate comes from the romanticized Hollywood version and not an historic one.
