Edited by: LLeBRing on 26/01/2004 05:58:09 Hey guys, For those of us that use TS it has by far become the best thing since sliced bread as far as tactical, and overall communication is concerned in EVE. The ability to talk in real time about what is going on is just amazing and not to mention a huge advantage to those who don't use it.
but..
I've been using it since September and have found it hard sometimes (most imporantly during large scale fleet battles and gatherings) to understand and to know just who is talking.
Has anyone found a feature or addon so to speak for TS that allows them to see who is talking while in the EVE client?? I have found the following resource but it seems as if this guy has gone dormant a bit..
http://www.qbnut.com/tso/
Anyway it would just make things easier to A. know the voices of certain people in large gatherings and to B. Not have guest1 call out targets With over 50 people in one TS room for a fight.. well its anyones floor sometimes and it gets a bit hectic. "help! help! i'm on fire! i'm on fire!" warp away you dam noob!"
Seems that the major problem they are having seems to do with some opengl or directx stuff which is way over my head. Hell I don't even know if its possible.. maybe CCP can help us out and think of something??
Anyway any ideas or addons that any of you have found that seems usefull for this?

Someone should email the guy and ask for the source, if he's no longer interested in developing it. Sounds VERY handy.

I have my screen set up in 1280x1024 resolution, and I'm running EVE at a slightly smaller resolution, this way I can spread the TS client very thin to the right side of the screen, and I'm able to see who's talking just by looking at the green lights.

There is also an option you can turn on to make it always stay on top - you might want to try that and put it somewhere out of the way. _____________________________________________________________ War is much too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military. Georges Clemenceau (1841 - 1929)

I think large fleet battles need more organised ts tactics to. The last days have been like a chicken farm on TS...

This sounds like an excellent idea.. I run with 2 monitors on my PC so I just have TS on the 2nd screen so I can see who is talking..
So how many Eve players use TS? Are there any 'central' TS servers for general Eve players to go and talk to alliance members for example?
I agree though TS really makes group activities much more fun, the members of our corp that have started using TS find that they cant imagine Eve without it anymore.. LOL

You can allways play in windowed mode and have so you can see the TS window and that way see who is talking

Nothing beats a slow southern drawl. Ask Miso she heard it on TS.

May be we do know about it and are not that worried about it because we realise that it could help us in a few ways like use TS to feed the bad guys the wrong info

Not really. If it's properly administered on a properly firewalled netwrok it's much like any other app. It's more like it's exploitable than hackable. Once you get on someones TS server you can exploit the comm's.
But then.... if someone is going to to a denial of service attack on your TS server, try and get your game password, access your forums and delete them.. well... they are just plain butt heads that have gone over the line and into the realm of commiting illegal activiteis.
But back to the topic. Eve directly supporting different voice chat programs would be nice. If they made some kind of plugin that worked with TS and or Ventrilo that would be very kewl.
A kewl little in game window that looks like the TS and Ventrilo interface then integrating chat invites with voice would rock.

Yeah in game support for teamspeak etc. would be cool.. You would really be able to "open hailing frequencies" LOL
