I was minding my own business when out of the blue I get ganked in a .5 system by a person I never saw before. It was nicely done, I was hauling ore in my mammoth, he hits me with a passive targeter (I never saw the lock) and 3 shots I'm dead. My question is now I have kill rights on this guy, What happens if I form a gang to hunt him down, does my gang have kill rights as well? Do kill rights flow both ways? Does he now get a free shot at me in empire as long as kill rights are in effect even though he aggroed me? How about my wreck, I assume his buds looted my wreck but the only person that that shows up in my kill rights area is the person that killed me. I hope that concord did their job and took him out, it would be an interesting situation if he lived long enough to loot my wreck as well as killing me.
So heads up in empire and donÆt make the same mistakes I did. This is the first time IÆve been ganked in a .5 system by a pirate.
Any comments would be a big help

- Likely he had an alt or friend to loot your wreck. When your wreck was looted, it evoked the stealing flag and you and anyone in your corp (if not in NPC corp) had temp kill rights for 15 minutes. I don't believe that shows up under the kill rights section of your character sheet.
- When your ship was killed by the guy, you and only you got kill rights on him for a month. He can't initiate combat on you without suffering the CONCORD smack down again, but you can on him. You may blow up one ship of his and CONCORD will look the other way. Can't pod him. Once you kill one of his ships I believe your kill rights end. Of course, once you start shooting him he is free to shoot back.
- If you gang up, still only you have the kills rights. Once combat starts and he returns fire, I think your gang mates can get involved if they're in your player corp, but I'm not 100% sure on that one. They could at least remote rep for you, but that may make them ok targets for him. Again, not 100% positive on that.
Fit a good tank on your hauler and use warp to zero and I promise your chances of getting suicide ganked are almost zero.

Edited by: GeneralD on 15/07/2007 17:06:44 Yep, I was pretty stupid. Id like to find out the gang limitations because I think that all gang members become concord tagets if one gang member starts aggression. I know that these are stupid questions coming from a 3 year player and its things I shopuld have down by now, but I spend most of my time in 0.0 space where things are less complicated. :)

Kill rights do not escalate to your gang members or corp. As soon as you attack you will be back flagged. Back flagging does not get escalated to your gang or corp.
The kill right gets invalidated as soon as you attack him. At least it was when I last checked it. If he is not blinking red leave him alone.
If the char that got blown up is the same you post with you can call yourself a not so smart person because you warned your victim in public.

No, your gang mates won't be able to help in hisec unless they have also gained kill-rights on the person in question or he is flagged to them for other reasons and this does not depend on them being in the same corp or not.

Yes, they become flagged to him if they remote rep you during combat.
