Edited by: Amael Galenus on 15/07/2007 17:27:53 Before the WCS changes, I understood (and agreed with) the use of those terms.
After the changes, I thought that it was impossible to PVP with even a single stab in your setup... in other words, it was my understanding that if you fit a stab to your ship, you're fitted for travel and not fighting.
If this is so, then why the hell are the "stab hoe"/"stab *****" terms still in existence? Surely if someone has one fitted, then it immediately implies that they intend to run and not fight?
The reason I ask is that that I jumped into, and out of, a gatecamp last night in my transport fitted Thorax (i.e. fitted with shield extenders, stabs, istabs etc.) and immediately there were cries of "stab hoe", "******* stab*****" etc. in local...
To me, the fact that I had stabs fitted is a no brainer that I wasn't intending to fight under any circumstances.
So are the people who continue to use this term a bit slow/behind the times or are there some loonies out there who are actually trying to PVP with stabs?

Well, i've been seeing alot of stabbed ships lately. Stabbed thorax, stabbed cloaked/harbinger. If they were travelling why did they stop and try steal wreaks, or stop and try lead me into a gank squad.

Its prolly because those people missed a kill and hate it. Thats a sorry excuse for such behaviour but let's face it most people are stupid anyway.
I agree that stabs are totally ok on travel/transport fittings and its nothing to be ashamed of. After all that's their sole purpose and people should get more scrams and a better organization if they want your goodies.
Apart from that (coming back to the remark about stupidity and how common it actually is) i am pretty sure there are indeed people who still fit wcs on combat-ships.

They're just a bunch of ******s who didn't get a kill because you actually fitted your ship right. It ain't game abuse and it ain't an exploit - they're just sore losers.

Yeah I have been called similar. I never have used stabs for PVP out of my entire Eve life even before Stabs were nerved. The only time I fit them is obviously for travel only. Sometimes people just see stabs on a Combat ship and get mad that you ran and they didn't get a kill, which i understandable because I get mad at it all the time for same reason. In my opinion it's fine to use them for travel.

And just why the F is it SOOOO bad for me to fit them on my ratting ship.
Same concept, I want to avoid PvP. I am only after the rats and their bounties and drops, period.
So if I fit multiple WCS on my ratting ship, STFU. It's the same frigging thing as a traveler fitting them on his traveling ship. For the purpose of avoiding PvP.

Edited by: DubanFP on 16/07/2007 00:42:16 honestly i never saw the problem with fitting WCS on combat ships before. I mean ya with the current nerf it's stupid to do, but pre nerf whatever works. Nothing in combat is cheap, if it can get you kills without much worry of losses do it! "This doesn't apply to abusing people's trust, mainly corp thieving".
I mean if it works anyways. Now if it's nerfing your ship a lot "like with the WCS nerf" it's newbish. See my signature, calling something cheap is pretty much admitting they can do something better then you in an unconventional way. But if you can pull it off sucessfully "which is where most people fail" WHY THE HELL NOT!? ________________

Basically the FC did not plan ahead or set the team up to compnetsate for targets using stabs. I have no issue about folks using stabs. Its available..its leagal and its part of the mechanics of the game.
And for smack talking...its not allowed in our gangs. The only person allowed to talk in local is under certain conditions and only the leader of that gang is to engage in conv on local.
Other than that the peeps smacking about stabs...take it as a win. You outsmarted them.

Anyhow who really cares if someone is stabbed out???I don't..
Anyone who uses stabs in pvp are starting the fight gimped,so it makes me kiklling them easier.

If those solo kills are sneaking away use 2 points or a 2 point scrambler, problem solved. Hells

If it's in the game it's a fair mechanic. If they cry about it jump into their camp again and warp off again. I believe it's possible to make their heads explode if you do it enough times.

Stabs, to me, constitutes resignation if put on a combat vessel with the intent of running if the fight goes sour. I'll take it as a victory if my enemy has resorted to using stabbed up ships. I'll just bring more points the next time and that's that.
However, there is one instance when the term "stab *****" is applicable, and that's for the bubble smartbombing BS's in 0.0. It goes like this: Place a bubble in line with a gate. Sit in the bubble with your BS fitted with large smart bombs, a cloak and a full rack of WCS. Kill all small ships that enter, and if a bigger ship gets close, or a group enters system, warp off and cloak. It's a fail safe method of racking up kills on smaller vessels, and it has no real drawback. People do this for days at end, effectively barring passage through a system for solo travellers in smaller ships.
It's more annoying than it is crippling, really, and it must be boring as hell for the guy doing it, but it is still a lame ass tactic with no real counter utilizing several mechanics of EvE which combined amounts to nigh invulnerability.
Those are the new stab hoes.

I have no problem with stabs on any ship now, a combat ship isn't a combat ship with stabs.
I'd call the guy a tard if he flew a 100 mil isk loaded hauler through lowsec/nullsec without stabs. Fear the Ibis of doom!

I think stabs for travel and indies is perfectly acceptable. fitting them to combat ships is just lame though. If you go it to pvp with stabs, you don't want a challenge, you want safe pvp where if you kill them its all good but if it looks bad, you can run like a squealing pig all the way home

Basically if you fit stabs on a ratting ship you don't only nerf yourself vs. the rats, but if you do get tackled there's no way in hell you'll survive it. If I know someone is fitting stabs I would bring in a gang in a situation where I'd rather engage solo. Setup your ship for pvp and stop sucking imo. Yarr |

Most ppl who throw insults about are just miffed at losing the kill.
Personally i would never use stabs on any combat ship because i would rather make my ship as good as it can be for combat instead of planning to run away.
Anyone who does use stabs in combat obviously doubts their ability to be able to handle their foe.
For travel purposes i have no problem at all with others using them.
I did once get smack in local from some noobie pirates while i was on my alt shouting that i was a stab monkey etc when i warped off from them in my crane i couldn't be bothered explaining to them why it was funny.

If you can throw enough cash at a faction ship in the form of officer fittings, implants and rigs to compensate for the warp stab penalties there really is no reason not to fit them.
Surely the only thing you won't be able to kill is a similarly leet ship that doesn't have stabs fitted, and i'd hazard a guess that there aren't that many of those about.
Personally i don't stab up my combat ships, but then i don't fill them with faction fittings either. I'm poor and rubbish.
