Just wondering what is an acceptable ping to play a game such as EVE effectively? I have never had a problem with my connection to EVE up until a couple patches before Rev2. I have seen things degrade slowly since then with regards to server stability and this "desync" problem thats all the rage now. Just recently I am getting a lot of D/C from the server too.
People always say it's your PC / ISP etc but i don't believe it is. EVE is the only program i have had this problem with as my connection is pretty solid. Other MMO's i play are completely fine and in fact anything else i do online is fine.
My PC / ISP could handle and run EVE before said patches just fine so i fail to see this as a reason. Something has changed at the server end it seems or in the game itself.
I have been running a trace to EVE using Pingplotter and here in Australia the ping is great. Nationwide ranging from 25-45... so no problem there. Once it hits LA in the States(not sure why it goes there before Europe)it's still acceptable at 200 coming from Australia. Once it hits London though its at 350+ and spikes at 700+ sometimes(where i think i am getting my D/C when this happens=/)
My ISP has no control over what happens overseas so what am i supposed to do there?
Sucks to love a game like EVE but not be able to play it with confidence due to technical problems. Be it the server or the ISP closer to London i don't know as i am just an average gamer.
Any thoughts on what's happening here would be appreciate.

So, does anyone out there know what is an acceptable ping to play the game confidently and if there is anything i can do about improving said problem? Like i said, from my ping tests the problem is in London so i am not sure my ISP can do anything at all about it.

anything under 100 is good, once you get above that packets are taking to low and get lost, which is cause your D/C

I am in Thailand upcountry, I get a fairly steady 395 ping time and have no issues with lag unless Eve itself is having Node problems.
On occasions (like today) My ISP crater's or the Kiddies get off school in the evening and swamp the Internet cafe's, then I get 700 plus, at this time the disconnects are regular.
I run a constant ping to the servers in the background so I can alt tab out to see the status before I commit to something risky where I don't want lag or a disconnect. I believe this ping also keeps the link to Eve open when afk for a while. I seem to always disconnect if away for more than 10 minutes. ---------- Gallente and Minmater Faction standings transfer service, fast and efficient service, 2 days to 5.0 4 days to 7.0.
