Voo Mat	Posted - 2007.07.16 22:06:00 - [1] I have decided to take up a dangerous way of being a predator instead of being a victim in this universe, I decided to be a pirate. First thing I did was looking through the archives created by more experienced pirates than I am, that proved to be quite enlighting. Turns out even I can do that if I fly a fast ship and have a bit of luck. There I go, to buy my first pirate ship - a Rifter ;) I equipped my Rifter appropriately, got a drink for courage and proceeded to sift through low sec systems near Teonosunde. After spending an hour looking through asteroid belts I get enlightened - I've got a scanner! I engage my scanner and find a potential prey - a Gallente cruiser in one of the belts. Another 2 minutes gave me the exact location and I found myself warping there, heart pounding, adrenaline level going up... After I warped into the belt I saw a cruiser being engaged with two npc rats, what a perfect opportunity, I quickly locked on it, did a combat maneuvre no 5 (which is a fancy name for me orbiting + warp scrambling + webbing the target) and opened fire. Quickly I opened a convo with it's pilot and started casually: Voo Mat> Hi Pilot> No Voo Mat> As I am new to the business, please give me 10k ISK and I will release you Pilot> No A thought passed through my mind: Is that smack talk? I bet it is, that pilot is dead already. After a minute the cruiser unleashed drones on me but that didn't save him, his ship was destroyed and I warped out to safety. This is when remorse started kicking back. My convo line was pretty lame, I could have been more eloquent than that, also where's honour in attacking someone who was attacked by npc rats? Driven by guilt I apologized to the pilot and we started talking for a bit, I agreed to return some of more expensive T2 equipment. I made a cardinal mistake after this, I docked on a station but the pilot was in other one in the system. I wanted to fly there to give the equipment back but my ship got destroyed by station's guns - live and learn. pps. Thanks for valuable tips to this unnamed pilot who was my first victim, I still feel bad about attacking such a nice person...

Stakhanov kleptomaniacs	Posted - 2007.07.16 22:18:00 - [4] You really need to work on managing your guilt , there's a long way to real piracy if you feel like giving T2 mods back after the victim refused to pay a pityful small ransom The drones could have killed you , a good general rule is to pod victims who fight back or ransom them extra high. You can be nice to your victim after the ransom is paid , if you need to. Otherwise , it's just bad form

Although assuming you decided to fight me I am certain my blasterax would have made short work of your riftah teh doom.

Plus, you need the ISK ;P Don't go near jump gates / stations 15 minutes after you attack someone. There's a red timer on your screen, wait it out in your safespot. I try to set ransoms (whenever I feel like pirating) at 1/3 of the base ship cost. (So, I'd ransom a Moa/Thorax/Maller/Rupture for a million or two, depending on player age, and a Exequor for, I don't know, 750K). However, people just logoff on me 50% of the time and then I have to kill their ship. Ratting cruisers are your best targets, anyway, since with a PvE-centric setup, they are just going to die a horrible death to a Rifter, and you can occasionally get nice T2 mods. I remember my first cruiser - a Osprey (good named/T2 fitted, heh) mining/ratting in Egghelende (!). I was too excited to try to ransom it. Most of the nice mods blew up with him, though, so I made only about 700ish K.

Because I enjoy them ? Forums ftw, what happens ingame is a completely different story, especially in C&P And I didn't know Voo Mat was from your corp if thats what you meant ? Other than that it was a long time ago (relatively) since I posted in aforum created by someone from klepto I can't stop looking at the vid Give the Nighthawk back it's shieldrecharge!
