You could meet half way in stirling and get stabbed in the arse. The printworks is alright, but it can be quite busy depending whats on.

True, best to avoid it if there's football on, I think. Although I was in there when the last Scotland/France game was on and it wasn't too bad.
I was in town today and poked my head in, it was pretty quiet. On the downside I noticed there are only 3 couches now

Well the second choice is Edinburgh where we might get jumped by sexually ambiguous junkies, dragged down Leith and bummed - I'll take my chances with the weegie stabbers!
You might get stabbed walking down leith as well.. so its really a 3 in 1 deal --------------------------------

Nah, I'm ok with the native Leithers, I lived in a flat on Leith Walk for 3 years. If I was going to move back to Edinburgh I'd move there.

Edited by: Lostat Yggdrasil on 01/08/2007 21:28:05 I think an average-sized "traditional" pub in Glasgow city centre would be fine. Wetherspoons and the like are usually hard to find good seating areas, but a traditional pub would probably be easier in this regard, especially if we're going to be there for quite a while getting drunk, don't want to be standing room only the whole time eh? Alternatively Stirling would be ace, still very handy for trains for everyone almost around Scotland and much easier for me if I'm driving me & my corpmates down the road, saves the weekend city traffic. A few of us Starlancer corpmates are happy to travel down from Aberdeen for it.

Aye, I'm off that weekend and keen to come, and will try to drum up interest from the other scots in our current and former alliances too. Glasgow's fine by me - living in Aberdeen you get used to having to travel to get anywhere (and everyone else refusing to travel far ). I know of a few other groups who meet in Glasgow pubs so will ask for some opinions on good ones for a Saturday. There's one meets on the third saturday of the month in Yates' on West George Street in the afternoon for eg - if it works for them it might well be ok for us too. Will post again when I know more.

How about Frankenstein's on George Square? If we met around 4pm will it be noisy? I heard it doesn't get busy and loud until about 9pm.

Yeah, that works for me. I finish work at 4 though so I won't be there til about 5.
Just one thing - it's not on George Square, it's actually West George Street which is just round the corner from George Square.
If you go behind the church on Buchanan Street Frankie's is diagonally opposite Pizza Hut. I think. It's on that street anyway, number 92.

i'll work something out. probably a poster and sticky name badges. I'm in Glasgow on Tuesday for work and I'll go in and ask about filming and maybe cordoning off an area for us. Probably not enough time now to blag some free swag from CCP, maybe I'll do that for the next one.

Some on this thread already have. I thought there was no thread hijacking this is totally off topic. Are you coming to the Glasgow meet BTW?

That was me, sorry! I didn't realise I'd posted it with my alt. Since everyone in this thread is UK based I figured at least a few might be interested in lending their support.

UPDATE:
Went in and spoke to someone in Frankenstein's (looks really nice inside) and managed to convince them to cordon off an area under the spiral stairs with seating for 20 or so.
I will find out tomorrow if they object to a film crew from Eve TV.
If there are groups coming from The North, how many are coming, hold up your hands. If there are people traveling from Edinburgh we should go as a group to avoid ganking at Croy.
Shin Ra, were you walking up Hanover Street at 9 this morning smoking a**** and getting ready to cross the street towards Neil's Yard. Thought I saw you from the 23 bus on the way to Waverly. Maybe I was mistaken.

I'll be going from Edinburgh, possibly get the train as their nicer. Id be getting on at Haymarket, but if we're gathering at Waverley then we can camp for tables. As everyone knows the table seats are the best.

OK, here's a google map of the venue. Although I think it's on the corner of West George Street and West Nile Street rather than on the pavement of Renfield Street (zoom in on hybrid).
Keiron has promised to send some free EVE goodies to give away, so there's an incentive to turn up. From what I've seen before it is usually stuff like T shirts, time cards and cardgame packs, stuff like that. I would do a quiz for prizes but my EVElore is not up to it. I work with someone who does pub quizes, could do one of those in teams if there's enough people turn up. Or maybe a free raffle.
Xyliana has been unresponsive, so far, on the filming front, so I'm assuming that EVE TV have decided not to come to Glasgow. Maybe they were hoping to be in Edinburgh at festival time and they are so disappointed they can't reply. Or maybe they're just really busy at EVE TV towers.
