I've just come back from a weekend away to find the servers down for a patch and skil points gone to waste, what happened to giving a decent amount of warning for such things.
Before the trolls come looking for scraps, please keep it civil.
I believe that since you pay for time and time is skill points, why is such short notice an acceptable practice.

You obviously need to train 'Time Management' and 'Forward Planning' higher. I reccomend IV at least in both.

Quilan, some people have lives and like to go and do things on the weekend.
My time management and planning cannot account for intentional outages in server uptime that are only posted once the weekend has already begun. Picture yourself with a life and then understand that some paying customers need to do more then alt tab of Thehun every five minutes to be aware of such patches.

I probably have less time to spare playing EVE than you (full time job + freelance work + girlfriend) and you know what my reaction to losing a couple of hours skill training to downtime is?
"Meh."
It's just a few thousand skill points. It won't kill you.

Agreed. I've lost probably weeks of skillpoints due to downtimes, spontaneous excursions with friends, etc. But hey at least I was living life, I'm not gonna fret over some virtual knowledge my character missed out on instead. ---------------------------------

Hmm..If you have a life..like you claim..then why are a few lost skill points such a big issue..surely Life is more important than a game?

The same reason i call the phone company when i am overcharged, if you are paying for something you are entitled to a level of service.
The fact you guys waiver that right through apathy has absolutely no bearing on what i should expect.

The level of service you feel we are entitled to entitles us to expect timely and efficient patch deployment. If one person happens to have been away on holiday when the notice was given out it's a shame but you shouldn't make the rest of us wait for our patch just because someone is away sitting on a beach somewhere. ----- Currently playing: Hello Kitty Online Character: Evil Kitty of DEATH |

Omg we are at this point again...read the EULA...you get exactly what you agreed to pay for.
If you know you can in no way check EVE for News on a possibly upcoming patch for 4 days in a row, set a long skill?

Adonis - Who said anything about delaying it, a reasonable amount of notification is all I'm interested in, i know a lot of people who go away on weekends and the like. If this time frame happened during the week i believe it would be far more reasonable, yet the vast amount of prewarning was the weekend, thats my complaint. :)
lol@EULA, when CCP take care of the Macros that infest space ill try reading the EULA again.

These threads always make me laugh:
I lost skillpoints because of CCP, not myself! I have a life, I can't be expected to have my life revolve around EVE!
Then explain to me... WHY DO A FEW SKILLPOINTS MATTER TO YOU?!?! If you have a life, than why are you wasting your precious time whining like a little child?
You've convinced no one... next? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. When did i state i wanted skillpoints reimbursed?
2. I really don't think im whining, i just wanted more opinions on this.
3. Why do people disagree that a reasonable amount of time is a good thing, more specifically, not announcing a patch on the weekend, when many people are not going to be available to make the arrangements.
4. If your bored and trolling, just go somewhere else.

Because a lot of us feel the way that 4-5 days warning are enough, if weekend or not, it was a monday in between, and a friday as well...
Anyway if you do not, as you say, mind losing 3 hours of SP, then whats the problem in the first place?

People complain about the bugs, and they complain whenever CCP takes the system down to fix them. I guess there is just no pleasing folks.
So how long until some disgruntled pilot starts up threads in a few sections complaining about how the fix has completely ruined his gaming experience?

Way to assume.
I'm married with two kids and only play EVE for a couple of hours on an evening if i'm lucky.
End of the day I couldn't give a crap if you lost out on a couple of hours SP training, my post was in jest.
Furthermore i'm not the one whining about loosing out on a couple of thousand SP, who needs that life again? |

You did.
Logistically, when a patch becomes necessary it should be deployed as soon as possible. There should not be a mandatory wait of X days for the sole purpose of giving people X days' notice.
Or do you think they had a schedule for this patch a week ago? ----- Currently playing: Hello Kitty Online Character: Evil Kitty of DEATH |
