Edited by: Timsk on 17/07/2007 14:19:02 After about 10-20 secs of being in Eve the game and my whole comp freezes, i hear a little *tick* from what i think is my hardrive and thats it, i cant run logserver as i have to push the power button so it doesnt save the log. ive tried a windows restore, removed all traces of the game (registry entries, everything) and re-installing but nothing works. A quick responce would be nice as i am only on free trial and want to make the most of it
Edit: ive downloaded the realtek hotfix thing but it didnt work (i do use realtek).

Are you seeing an blue screen with white letters on it?
If so write down the errorcode (error message + 0x????? values) and try to look it up on google or post it here. As of current this doesn't say much because it can be anything at this point.

Do you know someone who you can borrow a power supply from? Drive parking like that is usually due to a dodgy PSU.

Disable sound and see if there is any improvement.
CCP incorrectly states in stickied topics that there are patches to fix the realtek issues. the patch linked DOES NOT fix the issue. Nor does any of the latest drivers for realtek soundcards. I've tried ALL the latest drivers, BIOS's, and have been quite exhaustive about testing. I've even filed bug reports with log server info, core dumps, and have had QA people watch me as I BSOD every time I get locked or activate modules. Nothing ever comes of my work.
There is no patch to address realtek related lockups, and CCP refuses to acknowledge that the community would like an explanation as to why they are leaving things broken for over 8 months with no word on whats being done to address the issue, or even what the issue really is.
You can disable sound, Cripple your sound card by disabling hardware acceleration to basic mode, or quit playing eve.

Try this in this order
[1] BOOT up computer [2] Hit ctrl Alt del on the keyboard {it will bring up task manager} [3] Find the process userint.exe [4] end the process tree of userint.exe
{it should shut down all the running processes }
[5] go to the applications tab in the taskmanager and look in the bottom right corner of the taksmanager tab an select new task
[6] type in explorer.exe and hit enter
This will shut down all the processes other then life support for the computer ,start eve and see what happens best of luck ,could also be a bad stick of ram thats what happend to me about a year ageo when i first started palying try memtest86 program to test the ram ,also could be the cpu getting to hot due to to many things going on [i.e processes running to many at one time ] possible hard drive errors too if its a smaller drive or limited space on the drive best of luck agian

Well have you me, or feck!!! Now this is the x-th person having harware issues who has similar problems with me, however my laptop is brand new and works very good without EVE and I completely checked the system. Timsk, how did you find out you had hard disk problems?
