It makes absolutely no sense to pay for "tv". The only two reasons cinemas make money is for those that wish to see the movie as soon as possible; and to a shrinking degree, just to see it "on the big screen".
However, that "big screen" theory is rapidly coming to a halt, because there are no "dollar cinemas" in Southern California any more, that made money on rerun motion pictures on the big screen.
Here's the big kicker. No television is worth paying for. Not even cable television like Home Box Office, CNN, ESPN. The commercials all pay for it.
If you are old enough, you probably remember a time when MTV (Music Television) never played a single commercial, the only thing coming close are those infamous MTV cartoon animations of various items or critters coming together to make the letters 'MTV'. Once in a while, a VJ (Video DJ) would give some music relevant news, like David Bowie getting married, or so and so died.... but that's about it.
I also remember, when HBO, Cinemax, Showtime never aired one iota sequence of commercial.
Why? Becuase these are the main reasons for "paying" for television; during the dawn of 'cable television'. You either "paid" to watch a movie without interruption, or you had to watch public television (ABC, CBS, NBC) and every fifteen minutes be brainwashed into buying another pair of Nikes, or thinking you need another Coca Cola. In the beginning, no one bought "basic cable", it made no sense at all to do so; like tossing money in the trash bin.
So, why do you pay for Cable television? Why do you pay for "Satellite Radio"? Why do you pay publication houses for Cosmopolitan, Time Life et al?
Simple... some where in Marketing and Trend analysis, some wierd notion that people associate quality with value.
The only reason you pay for these services, is becuase their REAL BOSS, the marketing companies pushing advertisements say the medium carrying their advertisements must come at cost, becuase they think people will take it more seriously.
It's why we can't boycott the entertainment industry... it's more profitable for Time Life, or whatever magazine, if we stole the magazine than if we bought it. That way, they don't have to bother with all the costs of keeping track of the worthless chump change, and all the crap going along with it (like consumers claiming they didn't authorize that charge on the credit card)... simple tax exemptable write off... stolen merchandise at SRP instead of shelf price.
If you were sitting in an olympic size pool full of hundred dollar bills, would you notice the ten dollar bill from the consumer? Would you even care? That's how appreciated your dollar is at the news stand. You showed up, one more click, that's all they care about.... user base, size of audience all to get marketing dollars, not yours.

Frankly, I'm amazed evetv is as cheap as it is.
I don't like the third party billing scheme; I'm an international customer, so I would rather deal with just one person or legal entity.
I kinda wish, the eve store was 'aware' of my current account.
