Ever had a question that no one knows the answer to? Here's where to ask.
I've mainly operated in PvP and 0.0, so I'd like empire dwellers to answer questions regarding research/mission/production/invention if you can.
please try to keep answers and questions clear, so new players using the search function on these forums can easily find these answers.
Aggression timers? POS mechanics? Overloading? Drone AI? ask away
I'll be scrubbing and updating some of the guides written for the coalition(Redswarm and allies) and transferring them to this forum for general use.

Yeah i got a question, tho its an empire question.
Amarr dun really like me really .. If i enter there space they send 2 frigaes and 1 cruiser on my ass .. like that would even get through my shields (on a mega). Can i kill them without they getting big ass reinforcements from CONCORD or there empire?

There's going to be a significant difference depending on which race the tower is (they use different isotopes)
If I recall correctly:(ascending cost) Minmatar<Gallente<Amarr<Caldari(this fluctuates as Ice miners get their act together and switch around their mining)
I'll get back to you on the POS per week, it didn't cost that much, but it is a time commitment to keep fueling it.

eww question thread
gonna copy and paste a question I never got answered from another thread How does stealing work in High sec areas? I have so far stole 1 thing from someone and it was so we could attack each other without getting taken out by the concord. Just for fun.
I see people in the game actually do steal stuff from other players...
If I am a miner, and I am in a gang with lets say someone who had an awesome pvp ship and I set up a cargo thing to be stole from can the guy in the pvp ship help me kill soandso without getting attacked by the concord?
Also if I steal from someone do you have to wait for someone to shoot you first before you can fire on them? I would imagine so or the high sec would never be mined in cause as soon as you left something out that could be stolen then someone would come and blow your ship away. Lastly does the person in your gang have to wait to be fired on at all before they can attack? Is there any part to this I missed, and should know?
what is POS mechanics?
What does it mean when someone is gatecamping?
How do you know if you can trust a PC run corp? I keep hearing stories bout how when you join the leader and other people have access to your stuff, and can even take it... and even less than that can see what you have in bases... the whole idea of someone seeing what I have unless I put in something like a corp bank just sounds like a bad idea, but you can apparently only go so far solo, or in the beginning corp. So not sure what I should do.
Why can I not see my own characters picture in the forums? I get a ! and clicking on it does nothing
Is there anything like raid content in this game?
That's all I can think of off the top of my head Thanks

only if he is in your corp, gang does not have that effect.
Quote: Also if I steal from someone do you have to wait for someone to shoot you first before you can fire on them? I would imagine so or the high sec would never be mined in cause as soon as you left something out that could be stolen then someone would come and blow your ship away.
If you steal, you cannot fire until they do, once they do, you can only fire at them, not their corpmates (unless the corpmates fire at you, in which case they are free game)

gang does nothing for can flagging/stealing, it's only relevent for empire wars.
Quote: what is POS mechanics?
Player Owned Station, mechanics as in how they work or their effects
Quote: What does it mean when someone is gatecamping?
A person or a group of people are sitting on one or both sides of a gate because they know people are going to have to go through it, creating the highest number of targets.

If you join a corp, people with security officer roles can look at your hangar but not touch the items. Anything in your own ships/items hangar is not going to be stolen, assuming you didn't give out your account information, which you should never do.

yes it does, specifically heavy water and liquid ozone The tower will have a fixed cost for those two fuels.
The percentage of the CPU(heavy water) and Powergrid(Liquid Ozone) will determine the percentage of the maximum fuel cost the tower consumes.
for example, if you used 50% of the CPU, the amount of heavy water consumed would be 50% the listed fuel cost on the tower. An online tower has a management screen that give you a lot of information on it:

I haven't PERSONALLY tested neither of these here below... either not at all, or some not recently (and/or no longer able to). As for responses, I got a few responses so far for most, but usually CONFLICTING ones, so I guess I'll just have to ask... again.
1. Omnidirectional tracking links : stacking-nerfed bonuses or not stacking-nerfed ? (this is of utmost relevance for sentry drones)
2. LP gains for missions in 0.0 space : all the same or "truesec" taken into account too (i.e. a -1.0 agent giving much more as a -0.01 agent) ?
3. How viable (as a blockade runner) is a max-speed-modded Covops frig + Covops cloak when facing a gatecamp ? Any survival hints (handling lag on jump in, handling "decloaked blip" between move and actual cloaking, etc) ?
4. Where EXACTLY do bubbles "pull you out" of warp with regards to the bubble: at the EDGE of the bubble, somewhere (randomly) inside the bubble (or any other rules), or just dead-center inside the bubble (next to anchored one or launched probe) ?
5. Can you STILL initiate warp, THEN drop disrupt probe from an interdictor while aligning is almost finished... and therefore warp out of your own "just deployed" bubble ?
6. Can you still (remotely) access the market in neutral/hostile stations (outposts) ? Is it limited somehow (buy only, sell only, no orders, etc) or completely blocked ? If just limited, how exactly (by owner, via standings, or same rules for all) ?

The basic answer to this is - extremely viable, although its cargo is so small (175m3 on the Helios) that it's not useful for carrying much.
An excellent fit for the Helios, suitable for sneaky-sneaky, exploration and getting through tight spots:
Highs: Covert Ops cloak, Scan Probe launcher. Mids: named Microwarpdrive, 3 Sensor damps (Kapteyn or Phased Muon if you can afford them) and a cap battery. Lows: T2 Inertia Stabilizer, T2 Nanofiber Internal Structure. For the third, either a T2 coprocessor if you don't have covert ops 5 (for the cloak) or a second Istab.
This ship will turn like a drill and can get into warp from an unaligned dead stop in fewer than 5 seconds.
Survival tips: DO NOT PANIC. If you're in lowsec and hit a camp, you're not bubbled. Good camps will have interdictors running about and there may be wrecks around which can decloak you. Choose your next destination, hit warp, wait about 1/2 second, hit your cloak. Timed correctly, you won't show on overview long enough for anyone to get a lock. Interdictors are going to be doing their best to break your cloak before you get out, but that's tough without a bubble.
If someone does start locking you, they probably won't complete it before you warp (covops frigates are very small), but you'll not be able to cloak. If you can, damp the locker and try to break lock. Using your MWD is a judgement call- makes you easier to lock but might get you far enough away to damp locks out and warp. If you're being bumped to break alignment, you may just be hosed, but don't give up. Tip: Unlock your module buttons and move your damps to the top row so you can activate them with the F keys instead of using CTRL or the mouse.
Another tip: Turn on your tactical overlay after jumping in (I leave it off when jumping to avoid lag), so you can see where other objects are relative to you that might break your cloak.
Properly flown, a covert ops is extremely tough to nail at a gatecamp.
However: That said, I've been known to fly my covert ops 30 jumps out of the way to avoid them. An extra 20 minutes of flight time versus losing a ship worth nearly 50 million ISK is a good trade. I look at it like this: I try to avoid camps at all costs, but it's great to have the right ship for getting through when I do land in one. Haven't been nailed yet (knock wood).

Many thanks CSFFlame.
And in answer to the guy above, yes you can initiate warp, *then* drop a bubble and still warp out. It's pretty standard practice actually for anything other than solo work.

Depends on the ship. If you're in a covops, see my previous post. If you're in another ship...
Bubblecamp: If you have a cloak and mwd, you should:
Pick a direction that doesn't take you at the campers and preferably away from the bubble.
Double-click somewhere in that direction to start moving. Hit your MWD, then your cloak. Timed correctly, you'll get one cycle out of the MWD even under cloak.
CHANGE DIRECTION by at least 45 degrees, probably more. A good bubblecamp will have interdictors trying to intersect your flight path if they saw it, and you can counter this by changing direction after you cloak.
Consider going up or down to the plane of the ecliptic when you pick your final direction, many people are "flat-thinkers" and tend to move out in a circle, not a sphere. Use this to your advantage.
Use the tactical overlay to monitor objects near you and navigate around them. Get to the edge of the bubble and warp. (sounds simple, eh?)
You can practice a lot of this in hisec- when you jump through a gate, pretend there's a camp, make your break, hit your cloak/mwd, do your turns- get a feel for the pattern.
If you don't have a cloak or an MWD and jump into a bubblecamp, unless they screw up somehow, you're done 99.9% of the time. You might get away with just a run back to the gate if you can tank them long enough.

Err, left out the non-bubblecamp bit:
Covops, see above. If you jump into a gatecamp that's not a bubblecamp in a ship with a MWD and cloak, you should:
Find the direction of the object you wish to warp to, or another warpable object that's in front of you (lower alignment time is going to save your butt).
Double-click in that direction to begin moving. Hit your mwd and then cloak. You'll cycle up to a good rate of speed in a few seconds.
Drop cloak, hit warp- tip: if you have to use a menu to select the warp command, open the menu, hover the mouse over the "warp" command, and hit the F1 key (or whatever you have your cloak assigned to), wait about 1/4 to 1/2 second, then click the mouse.
If you do this correctly, you'll nearly instawarp because as the cloak drops you'll be moving in the direction of the item you wish to warp to and be above 75% speed from the MWD. Properly executed, this is a very difficult tactic to defeat. Interdictors or fast frigates with drones out and orbiting, or camps with lots of wrecks around are going to ruin your day though.
Best bet is to avoid the camp if you can, check the map, etc. Better to go around or wait until they're not there than become another victim.

Well, a cloak will vastly improve your chances in both cases.
For non-bubble camps, if you can't/don't use cloaks, you should be fitting Warp Core Stabilizers- stuff your lowslots FULL and tank the campers long enough to warp out. Unless they can put enough points on you to counter your stabs (entirely possible depending on the camp) you'll be able to warp and escape with your ship.
If you need to carry things through camps, get a blockade runner, such as the Viator. It has +2 warp core stabilization built in, you can add more stabs on top of it, it moves VERY fast, and you can increase that further with a cloak/mwd combo per above.
Keep in mind also that these are my opinions, based in part on my experience and in part on my observations. Others may have varying opinions on the matter. The beautiful thing about this game is that for every "best" way to do something there's another "best" way. Much depends on your needs and skills.

If someones warp is already initiated and THEN someone scrambles that persons ship, will that person still continue to warp away?
How can anybody get the Tag's or insignia's etc... needed for the offers in the LP stores? Because it seems it will take 3 years to get enough tags for even one of the offers, and that is with the rate of getting L4 missions that drop them.
Why is it that CCP seems to make the Faction gear so hard to get at as no one will ever use them for PvP? And that is seems the only people i hear who have the Faction gear from the stores is the mission runners?
When you are out on patrol and getting into a battle, and someone has you scrambled but not able to break your tank ever, when is it ok to say ebough is enough and Alt-Q to finaly get to bed or go to work or go to the bathroom or eat, etc...?
Are people respected more who will use their main to spy in an area and not use an alt like a wus?

No. However, if you drop an interdictor bubble after they initiate warp, they will get away.

Try putting a buy order on the market.

PVPers get their modules blown up a lot more often than mission runners, so they can rarely afford to use ultra-expensive kit.

IMO, no. Call in reinforcements (which is probably what he's doing), or deagress and go through a gate.... I guess if it lasts FOREVER then you could control-q, but if it's reaching that point, a polite "Can we call it quits in local?" might be a good idea.

It works on a corp level, not a gang level. If you steal or (last I checked) re-arranged a can that isn't yours, the owning corp get's kill rights on the you for 15 minutes.
If your gang is a mix of buddies from different corps, then the only people that can agress the theif are members of the can-owners corp. That's not to say that everyone else can't then remote rep their buddy though. ;) -- 99% of Eve-o posters should stop posting. This probably includes me, but definitely includes you. |

A small will take maybe 30mins for a 30BS gang to knock into reinforced, depending on their DPS. A medium would take much longer, and if it has medium or large guns on it you're going to start hurting. Large Artillery battery uses XL ammo with an 85x damage multiplier and will hit out to 250km easy.

Player aggression(they cause a 15 minute timer you cannot see), if you logoff in that time you will emergency warp off 1,000,000km and stay there for 15mins): locking someone someone locking you shooting at someone someone shooting at you getting smartbombed smartbombing someone hitting someone with an FoF someone hitting you with an FoF

Highly highly viable, even if it's fleet, pick something to warp to, double click move and press the cloak button about half a second after the move order, depending on your normal lag, that delay might be different. Initiate warp the second you get out of the bubble, you've got 95% chance of being fine. I fly my Rapier through camps all the time.

you are pulled in wherever your warp path intersects or is extrapolated to, the bubble. you will be pulled to the VERY EDGE of the bubble, your ship's inertia will carry you a little into it, if you're in a frigate or a pod, spamming reverse then warp will get you away 99% of the time for me. Also the Bubble's limit is 100km infront of or beyond your warp target, and warp jitter(the 2km variance on warp exit) will cause you to get around small bubbles sometimes.

Originally by: Fenren what is the best way to get out of a bubble-camp?
In a frig or an inty? burn back to the gate and jump through(wait 30secs before decloaking due to the Revelations gate jump timer. Large ship, you're going to have to fight your way out (pop tacklers while heading out of the bubble, etc.
Originally by: Fenren best way to get out of a non-bubble camp?
ctrl+q, although that's highly looked down upon, nothing is going to catch an inty for fast frig without a bubble. Best chance for medium ships is get out of web range and run for it. If you're slow it's going to be a fight again. Warp core stabalizers are also good for these non-bubble camps.

What is considered to be "on grid". I hear people say that when they arrive at a battle "I didn't get any lag until I got on grid." I'm guessing it's the volume of space centered around your ship (or a given location like a belt, moon or PoS) that extends a set distance in all directions. What are the dimensions of this grid?

This is a little hard to explain in words, but CCP has broken up systems into grids, the grids were thought to be boxes, but it turns out that's not always the case.
grids range from several hundred by several hundred km to several thousand. If you fly off the edge of a grid(and onto the next) everything you could see dissapears (like when you warp away). Locks are broken, missiles do not follow.
In a large fight, when you warp to the fight, the moment you hit grid is when CCP begins sending your computer information on ships, positions, speeds, missiles, and notifies all other ships of your position, they only have to load you, but you have to load everything already there.
Grid load is often shown to the client as a full freeze until the grid has loaded. In server lag conditions, the grid will appear empty for several minutes, at which point your computer will lock up as it loads the grid.
Edit: an excellent way to see this effect is to warp to Jita 4-4 during peak hours, first you will see nothing, get a short lockup, then all the ships will appear, many of you may already be familiar with this effect

Amarr dun really like me really .. If i enter there space they send 2 frigaes and 1 cruiser on my ass .. like that would even get through my shields (on a mega). Can i kill them without they getting big ass reinforcements from CONCORD or there empire?
From what I've heard, yes, Concord will not react, and they will drop some kind of loot, I expect it would hurt your faction standing though.

New Citizens Q&A might have been a better place for this thread, but most of these questions aren't one's a new player would ask.

Are there any CONCORD Assembly 'faction' Agents, or is the 'Backstory' area describing it's agents out of date (IE, CONCORD, DED, etc.)?

How is it that people still have huge battles even though they are extreamly laggy? I do not see the point to go and die and not even get off one shot because of lagg warping in and during even.
Extra Credit :) What is the green leters in the upper right box when you do not have something targeted?
It only happens sometimes, is it a bug or hack? Sometimes to some people it was a green or red smiley face.

Because there can be satisfaction in being a part of a team that wins a fleet battle, or even one that gives it an honest effort. I've been in one 'real' fleet battle, where we lost 60 ships. It was actually a lot of fun, just knowing that we'd thrown that many ships at the enemy and been smashed by an extremely impressive display of firepower. (Stealth bomber bombs are quite effective against frigate blobs if you use enough of them!)

1)You hope there's not going to be lag 2)You have an objective, POS smashing or defense.
