I am new so forgive me but does agent quality affect standing increases or does it only affect isk payouts? And if it affects standing increases do skills like Negotiations that increase an agents effective quality also increase standing increases? Just a random thought that popped into my head and now I can't stop thinking about it

Agent quality does affect Standing increases.
Connections increases effective standing.
Negotiation increases agent rewards (ISK)
Social increases standing.
Specific connections skills, e.g. Military Connections, increase LP gain when working for the proper division.

Technically you're right, but Negotiation actually increases the agent's effective quality, which increases rewards (ISK and standing) in general.
The skill description is misleading.

Which takes me back to my original question. FT Diomedes said quality does increase the standing increases for running missions and since Negotiation increases the agent's effective quality does it then also increase standing increases? Or is it only the actual quality that determines that? Or do I have it completely wrong? Thanks

Quality determines the standing you need in order to use the agent. Effective quality is the actual value used to calculate rewards, so yes, Negotiation indirectly increases standing gains.
Social though is better than Negotiation in this aspect though and it's easier to train up.
