Hi all,
Not sure if this is the correct section of the forum for this so if not please could someone move it.
Anyway I have had an idea on a way to help new and old players in eve when conflicts occur with CCP and with the game.
An independant EVE Players Union [EPU].
Players would pay a one off fee for one years membership (thinking 2 Euro) which covers the cost of administration and hosting of a website & forum. For the 2 Euro players would benefit from the following tools............
- Exclusive EPU forum for discussions and questions. - Advice from experienced players (to be recruited) - Mediation between CCP and player - Monthly newsletter
These are just a few ideas. I am looking for poeple who can help with the site and any poeple in specialist fields who can give advice and help. I would also need contacts in CCP who I can deal direct with when problems arrise.
So there is a basic overview of my idea. Now shoot it down in flame
Seriously let me know your thoughts poeple.

Charging RL money for any EVE related service is a massive no-no. If you eliminate that bit though, it's not a bad idea. --------

So basically you're spending money on something you can get right here for free?
Edit: also, theres no such thing as mediation between CCP and union members, CCP will simply refuse to discuss the matter with any third party. -----

The idea would be fine if it wasn't completely redundant.
Firstly, you aren't allowed to charge real life cash for anything in EVE unless fully endorsed by CCP (EON, EVE-TV).
Secondly, CCP and the players talk all the time on these forums, and in IRC. The same thing goes for the new players getting advice from experienced ones.
The monthly newsletter can be replaced with WDA Podcast, EVE Tribune and various other publications.
And if you want a separate forum to discuss stuff not run by CCP there's always SHC.
So yeah, good idea in principle, but it's not needed because EVE already has everything your idea requires, just for free

The whole structure of a Union is not applicable here since the money flows the other way and CCP as a business can't be held to ransom that way.
Besides, CCP have proven time and time again that in instances of trouble or suspicion, they prefer less transparency, not more. Only once information is widely known do they start behaving in a way that would be friendly with a union.
Sorry, but your idea has little merit. v v -- 99% of Eve-o posters should stop posting. This probably includes me, but definitely includes you. |

Ok, I will take this one at a time.
RL money - This will be an out of game service not relating to anything ingame such as items and isk. You are paying for access to a website and other services outside of eve.
EVE Forums - The problem with the eve forums are that they are controled and moderated by CCP which is why I was suggesting an independant site.
CCP - My thinking was that if CCP was dealing with a few poeple on a regular basis then a good relationship should arrise and it would make it easier to resolve issues. CCP must deal with 1000's of complaints problems etc and with 1000's of different players. If they only had to deal with one set of players/poeple my thinking was things may get resolved quicker.
There are many sites out on the web that offer various services and advise. I was thinking of a way to bring all that together to a single point on the net.
So it's probably not a good idea looking at the responces but I have to keep voicing these ideas (may get a good one one day )

Wel yes and no hehe.
ccp likes to lock a thread if the discussion is going bad for them (something that hits a sensitive truth spot which they rather not reveal) they lock it and try to pretend it never happened even though the discussion has merit.
But on the other hand, it's their game, if u don't like the way they handle it then ur free to spend ur money elsewhere.
CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!! Magners is now recruiting, evemail me or Dagazbo ingame.
