Well erm uhmm... well... you should definitely try something with lots of death and dark and kill, also something that suggests awesomeness on your part, like adding lots of zorz at the end of the name, with syllables that sound like guns going off and things blowing up, you know, just to scare the opposition away.
Also rolling your head around on the keyboard works, gives the impression you're an isk farmer, you know, have people come at you thinking you're some ******* with no clue how to defend yourself and you lie there in wait and shoot them unsuspecting wannabe evildoers to smithereens.

Edited by: SengH on 20/07/2007 22:30:43 From experience you want something really unpronounceable( vowels are bad) with lots of numbers with a long string of easy to confuse digits that way you have something like. nqjkp00000001919 and you vary the # of 0's for all your alts but keep the numbers the same. Get your friends to name their characters similar keep the letters and non zero digits the same. Have fun watching your enemies trying to call targets. Would be extremely funny to see an entire alliance named that way. Ofc you'd get ppl thinking your a macro, but id rather get called a macro than get called primary.

Please, think of the kittens and don't create a horrid name. I usually take a specific word and rearrange it to form a new proper name if I need to name a character.

In all MMOs I tend to treat names very seriously. In EVE, when I realized I could have a first AND a last name at the character creation window, the game immediately endeared itself to me. When I go into a new system and in local I see someone with a first and last name I always check their profile/bio if they have one. It's usually a sign of an RPer and those bios are always a little more entertaining than the usual helpful game info or "My gun just did this much damage to a guy! Check it out!"
I personally dislike numbres in names. The person who said it was a callsign made them make a little more sense to me, but I still dislike them.
Look on the bright side, at least the naming convention of Xbox Live isn't implemented here. Having to fly spaceships with people like "Bonertron69" or "el1tesmok3r420" while listening to how much they hate (insert racial slur here) or how high they are would probably make me quit the game in disgust.
And people wonder why I never play games on Live.

First of all, Im sorry to say the perfect name for the perfect character is Del Narveux, and its already taken. Secondly, I dont think theres too many hardcore snotty roleplayer types who are going to complain about your name so pick whatever feels right for you.
That being said, if its all the same to you try to avoid numbers in your name (like john324) cause it just looks lame and easy to mistake you for someone else (in this case the evil supervillain john342). But thats true of the internet in general, not just eve. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I wasn't sure what to name this character, so I searced various MMO sites that showed lists of all the NPC's. OEven though I had never played EQ I went to Allkhazam (I think), I found this character listed as the "Child of Hate" and "responsible for numerous wars."
I made her about 30 seconds later.

Originally by: Daqko When making characters, do you guys prefer to just have a first name, like "John" or is it more official and professional to have a first name and last name, like "John Doe?"
Which way of naming your character is more accepted and is more "correct" when it comes to naming a character?
I began reading the works of Isaac Asimov around 1970, so to me it's normal to name characters the way he did: first name and last name, with both names sounding kind of science fiction-y and kind of like they could be actual names, or mutated versions of actual names.
In online games you see so many people with such absurd or borderline offensive names, and I've never been able to figure that out. I just say "Well, this character is your alter ego, dude, but if you want to go around with that as your name, it's your subscription money..."
To me, online games are places where you can reinvent yourself and create your own heroic story. My characters are extensions of myself.
When I played Asheron's Call, in keeping with the sword-and-bow theme of that game (I never played with magic), I named my characters after obscure pharohs, Mongol generals, Hittite kings, etc.
That game had plenty of people running around with names like "Smelly Feet 666"
So does this game. Oh well. There's no "rule" to character naming. Whatever you feel comfortable being known as.

I actually met that guy in a public chat. He was incredibly rude to me, he got banned form chan. He's every bit as horrid as his name.
Back on-topic. I mashed together two PSX RPG char names to get mine.
