SEED THIS BOOK! Give me a break, paying 65+ Million for this is insane! For the amount of things in game that this skill is required for it's bloody theft. It's not NPC seeded, for the love of god its a physics skill, it should be sold at one of the in game stations maybe one of the University stations!? That would make sense you go to a university station for a physics skill book.

Maybie you don't understand... CCP actually does not want people to be dictor pilots, nor be able to invent/build on t2 bubble thingies.

Being a Fleet Commander and a Arbitrator pilot are the same thing - The only difference being that the Fleet Commander commands other people, and the people actually listen to him. |

Yeah, I was wondering the other day what makes it so expensive. Or more to the point, what someone who has already trained this skill--that would be me--could do to get a piece of the action. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Dictors need it for their sphere launcher. Inventors need it for cloaks, mobile bubbles, warp disruptors, warp scramblers, webifiers, and target painters.
Supply is from 1 level 3 mission.
I suggest seeding it in the LP store for the equivalent of 25m.

Speaking as a future Interdictor pilot, I agree. You don't necessarily have to seed it in the NPC stations, but making it a reward in the LP store would be awesome. I'd buy it.

The system is fine.
It should be like that, if not for all skills, at least the ones needed to use T2 equipment or cap ships.

You could work for it, if you think 65M is a lot of ISK.
Consider that you'd have to roll probably 10-20 level 3 silence the informat missions and keep them open for the whole two weeks to hope to get the book. Oh, and did I mention that you have to clear out the whole first room before you can get at the structure which has a snowball's chance in hell of dropping the book?
Now compared that to simply making 65M doing something else. 65M for the invention book is a steal.

Edited by: Gnulpie on 21/07/2007 21:43:53 It is, as always, quite simple.
If the book would be too expensive, then people would stop buying it. That will lower the demand and therefore the price will drop also.
But obviously people still want that book despite its price.
Why is always and with everything all that horrible whining?? Next you whine about that you cannot buy a titan or what? Or that a BS costs 100 mil and that you want only to pay 10 mil? Or that the capital ship skills are so expensive and therefore must be lowered?
If the book is too expensive don't buy it! Do something else.
If you think the book is a good thing, work for it.
But stop that **** whining!

Oh really? I'm fully aware this is the player driven economy at its "best", but of all science skills this is the most overpriced because every single person who wants to fly dictors needs to train this skill (for whatever stupid reason...) and the supply is ONE SINGLE L3 mission with crappy drop rates. Give me a break, not very expensive. No, not compared to capship skills but seriously...

Eh, the skillbook for T2 Haulers is 27M ISK. 60-70M for the skillbok which lets you use dictor spheres isn't out of line.
Wait till you want to start flying capitals... CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

I know exactly how much skillbook prices for T2 ships are
Graviton Physics is none of them, it's a science skill that you use to FIT the ship for its intended use, a science skill whose supply is so low it went from (already overpriced) 10-20M to way over 70 within half a year. No, not every skillbook for "advanced stuff" needs to cost 1337 gazillion ISK. I don't see what's wrong with seeding this or at least adding more supply (eg. different missions, exploration, random drop, IDK), except for killing the income of the lucky few. This is no better than "lol epixxx" in your EverQuest-like fantasy MMO

Demand for the graviton books and the science books in general is growing faster than the supply. Only CCP can decide what the "appropriate" price for a science book should be. That book is only one of many that might drop from that structure in a mission that some people don't even know to go for the structure. It's a very odd way to seed a book, especially one that is growing in importance for the player base.
The market for the graviton skillbook is only going to continue in this direction (some say the drop rate was lowered in the past 5 months). Eventually it will hit 100m and beyond. The question is when CCP will take notice and either say, "Yes, we want a relatively fixed supply for a skillbook that is growing rapidly in demand" or "No, players should have a way to directly affect the supply (in more missions (L5 anyone?), through exploration, LP store, NPC seeded (maybe 0.0)."

Its found in "Silence the Informant" lvl 3, last room, mobile home drops it (iirc)
It wouldnt hurt to seed it to the LP store, couple more missions, maybe a storyline mission reward, who knows, but there needs to be more supply, otherwise demand will get higher and higher and they will reach astronomical prices.

I think what the OP should be saying is that, compared to other science skill books, the drop rate on this is too low because there is higher demand.
I remember when people cried blue murder when it went as high as 10mil.
Not that I care, since I got mine at 800k back when these things were only good for RP. I think I still have a couple more, so thanks for letting me know they got for 60mil+. --

i got the mission from level 3 caldari command agents. but i am pretty sure it is not faction specific since it involves only rogue drones and mercs.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
Multi-racial, its a kill mission, 3 rooms (Rogues in room one, mercs in room 2, drone sentry towers/single rat + mobile home/habitat in room 3) with about a 5% chance of the graviton physics book form what it seems like.
So, even if you beat the odds to get the mission, you gotta beat the odds to get the ultra-raretastic book.
P.S loom, you must be out of shape!
It's a generic mission, so it'll come up for any empire faction. (I don't know if pirate factions get it too.)
FWIW, I've probably run this mission more than the majority of people who run missions, since I never graduated to L4s. Never got the Graviton book, though the one Mechanical Engineering book I got was pretty nice at the time.
Anyway, I just mention that in case people are thinking of farming it. It's probably going to take a lot of farming.  * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Well that's the idea, since I have a drake, but not the money for the flycatcher, nor the graviton physics, but all the prereqs, I might as well grind an agent who might give me a shot at dodgeing a 36 million isk bullet. The way I look at it is I do level 3s to pay for the skill and ship, or while doing the level 3s, chance that I get to skip a lot of it. Hey Macro Miners, "BONK!"
If you're capable of running L4s, or ratting in 0.0, I really think you'll be better off doing either of those and buying the book off the market. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
