Right people, let it out on what you think the best solo pirating ship out there is. I've never done much solo pirating myself, Im currently training for Curse. A lot fo people say I should use Deimos, or Heavy assault ships in general. I've sometimes used my Harpy, and managed to take a single BS alone and bring it down to hull before the worst, the guy chickened. That's a rarity though.

Domi - Opponent = capdead, you = capfull, that alone is usually enough to win the fight, but then you have nigh-endless hordes of dmg and hp bonused t2 Ogres pouring from your ship to pew pew the mark Vaga - Not much to say, pretty much self-explanatory for anyone who's played eve for more than a week Curse - Almost as speedy as the Vaga, with the cap draining capabilities of the Domi, all able to operate somewhere under 30km (Domi Disruptor range) without having to slow down for it's guns ('cause it doesn't fit them) like the Vaga does. Widely regarded as the solo pwnmobile of pvp, the only hitch is that your dps is attached soley to your drones, and if they die, you just have to accept it and leave. Nyx - Hahahahahahahahaa Lach - Warp in at 50 and pwn, anyone? Great solo or gang ship, very nice on the ewar. No one will be able to target you because of your ranged fighting style and damp setups. Lots of setups fit a mwd or at least an ab to keep that range, and you can run your mods for a decent amount of time with good cap skills and a ccc or two, and due to the fact that you're more likely than not going to be fitting 3 HML IIs which require no cap, and allow for variable damage types, which is always a plus.
Lach is my ship of choice imo. Ranged fighting gives you a chance to gtfo if need be, unlike in a semi-closerange ship like the rest of the above (minus the Nyx, but that's a special case), and the only thing you risk is a few t2 drones, and not your whole ship, by engaging (<3 warp disruptor range bonus)

Especially curious about solo domi, myrm and vaga setups. Things like Curse will take me a long time jsut to get to the basic ship and I would rather build up supoprt skills for now as I am sure many new players would including the OP.
Thanks!

solo domi = blasters + drones + damps (better than nos domi setups)
solo myrmidon = dual rep tank, tackling, mwd damp, nos + guns + heavy drones
fagabond setup = 220 vulcan t2 passive shield tank, gyros.

None of these ships except for the Domi can tank sentry guns very long, though. What heavier ships would you suggest for tanking the gate guns while fighting other players?

Megathron can tank gate guns with 1 repper and no boosters. if something like a raven jumps in you might need to turn the second one on
personnaly i fly the myrmidon. dual rep and cap boosted setup can tank anyhting bc or smaller no prob. it can also take ravens and scorps 1v1 and any gun bs is toast if it doesn't have a webber. you worst enemy is nano ships and dominixes. and blobs

Being a pirate is not all about huging gates or to gate camp. Finding a player at planet. Finding a player in a belt Find a player in safe spot uceing probes. And you have flaging to. A trure pirate do not only hunt in low sec but in 0.0 to for targets.
And if fly a domi and sudenly a blob of players comes by and pawn you so having a big ship i will not always grant you sucsess.

Well by theory the best ship for solo pirating is by style
for all intensive purposes my personal fav of solo ships is
The Camp Phoon - utterly hilarious ship 7x smart bombs + 1 cloak +2-3 warp stabs nano/o-injectors
The Myrmidon twin setup either using blasters/autocannons or Nos and Neut all on preference
The Dominix very wide array of setups
The Fa-- Vagabond just not much to say about this ship except in my opinion the best tech II ship ever people will say things about command ships but <33 vagabond
Technically mothership isnt a solo ship as technically you would need a cyno alt to bail you out which means its really a 2 player ship iunno thats my opinion
For People who dont have infinite isk - however there is no substitution for a gang, no matter how good u are in solo, for best results have 2 buddies tackle frigs, tracking dist, that extra dps all awesome stuff =P
Thorax - the poor man rack up blasters and a 1600m plate with a magstab u got ur self a mean machine
Vexor - u could fit 800m or 2x 800m plates and make it a lil beefy

Thats what I would use for a solo domi:
2x Heavy Dimishing, 2x Medium Dimishing, 2x Medium Neutrons
1x MWD II, 1x Disruptor II, 1x 90% Web, 1x Medium Injector w/ 800`s, 1x Sensor Booster II
2x LAR II, 3x Hardener II, 1x EANM II, 1x DCU II
3x Exp/Kin/Thermal rigs.
Pretty much all above 80%, 85% on therm/kinetic. Close to 8k armor and not loosing agility with plate.

You're right, but I hate having to pass on targets because they're hugging the gate, and sometimes it can be tough to find targets at planets and belts.

Well, a BS isn't actually going to catch most of the targets in belts / whatever, so you can only resort to gatecamping in it. There's always danger of a blob coming, and solo you can't really get away in a BS, since 90% of time you'll be tackled before you can possibly warp out.
However, the smartbombing typhoon sounded like a hillarious but good idea ;)

Probably warp disruptor(s). I mean, the ship has 20% range bonus per level on those, so a simple tech2 one will go 48km.. But you probably knew that already, right?

I would say mwd pilgrim, you dont show up on scanner, you can pick your targets, do good damage thanks to heavy nossing and chosing of damagetype, tank good and you can bust through any bubblecamp with utmost ease. Also you can go take a dump without further ado.
