Edited by: JamnOne on 23/07/2007 23:18:44 Ok - this is just an idea - Combat Free Zones...
Example - 50K Around Hi-Sec Gates 30K Around Low-Sec Gates 10K Around 0.0 Gates
50K Around NPC Stations in Hi-Sec 30K Around NPC Stations in Lo-Sec 0.0 No Restrictions.
Reasoning: 1.) Gives some players a better chance to get away from Gate Camps. Or at least try & negotiate safe passage. The intended victim can still be targeted.
2.) This is mostly for Pirates going after noobs. They place a can underneath the station and leave friendly messages and then attack the noob. That and some pirates will try and start stuff with people under station and immediately redock.
Exceptions: 1.) War Declaration - All is fair in War. Doesn't matter where you are at.
Remember, this is just an idea. There are I am sure other reasons for the Combat Free Zones that I just didn't think of now. As for the distance - these numbers are just numbers and can be adjusted.

Originally by: Edania no shooting areas around 0,0 gates is patently silly
Doh - my bad. A very valid point. Originally by: Edania
secondly that 10K radius is a silly figure, all ships jump in at 15 anyway
Very good point. As I mentioned before the numbers are adjustable.

1) why do players need to get away from gatecamps? destroyed ships fuel the economy i dont care how they die, and i accept that even when its me dieing if your going to travel in dangerous space be more prepared, take friends get intel design a better setup or negotiate with the local campers for future passage, they always need friends
I agree. When I flew out there the other night I took a shuttle as I knew there was a chance I was going to die. In regards to negotiating - never got the chance.

2) if a pirate wants to grief a new player they can do it in endless verietys of fantastic ways removing one situation does little to level the field
This shows how much more I need to learn as I only knew two items the one I mentioned and the second stealing ore.

Originally by: Jacob Castillo Bad idea. Most of the PvP you see in this game occurs around stargates, and restricting that would kill off a lot of combat.
Thank You for the education. I thought it was more common place in low sec and 0.0 in belts.

When I thought of this idea I knew I was setting my self up as cannon fodder.

*EDIT* Actually.... yeah, lets do that.. but the carebears will have to make a sacrifice... you get your combat free zones around gates, but the areas away from gates (stations, belts, etc.) are all like 0.0... no concord protection.
You get your combat free zone but you can't do anything unless you leave it
Hmm - now this is an interesting idea. I wasn't thinking of carebears I was just thinking of an idea. I figured it was going to get nuked, bombed, ripped to shreads, and I would end up as a target everytime I entered 0.0 or low sec.
For those with the constructive criticism - Thank You. I was able to learn some thing from this.
For those who think I am anti-PVP I am not. Anti-Blob is a different story and that is a totally different topic.
