Actually.... yeah, lets do that.. but the carebears will have to make a sacrifice... you get your combat free zones around gates, but the areas away from gates (stations, belts, etc.) are all like 0.0... no concord protection.
You get your combat free zone but you can't do anything unless you leave it

instead of "combat free" zones: how about "free combat zones"? this would allow players to kill anywhere, regardless of system sec rating.
it would work a little something like this:
1) 10k radius from OP
2) details
your idea, though making it alot more carebear friendly, is not in the spirit of this game. people need to die to fuel the economy and most people die at the gates.

my PVE friend jsut joined eve and love how your never safe and when he ran into half to get his destoryer skill book he got shot at and got away.
all he could say to me in chat was...
"OMG I JUST GOT SHOT AT! IT WAS SO INTENSE! I WAS liek my poor ship! ... that was fun "

And the campers pay a price for that already - the economy in the area they camp in shuts down, and the merchants eventually stop coming.

Hmm - now this is an interesting idea. I wasn't thinking of carebears I was just thinking of an idea. I figured it was going to get nuked, bombed, ripped to shreads, and I would end up as a target everytime I entered 0.0 or low sec.
For those with the constructive criticism - Thank You. I was able to learn some thing from this.
For those who think I am anti-PVP I am not. Anti-Blob is a different story and that is a totally different topic.

EVE already has "combat free zones" they are called stations, and rumor has it you will be able to walk around in them someday..
Cats do play EVE. Where did you think player names like asdfghjj came from?
