Anyone having this problem make sure you check your firewall settings despite having eve open on my firewall for some reason the latest patch was not acknowledging it. I blocked eve and than reallowed it and lo and behold it is now working.
So this might not be server side after all- perhaps its a firewall issue but like I said uncheck or block eve than reallow it- there may be some sort of glitch or something, I really dont know. Peace WithinSo if the theory of relativity is true, shouldn't i arrive at my destination before i warped in the first place? Neon GhostYou do, but this is compensated for by lag |

This for some users is in fact an ISP issue. the following ISPs are affected, and appear to use port blocking or restricted service for EVE (and possibly others):
Tiscali (info from several players suggest that only certain packages are affected) Clearwire (Ireland, who have admitted to using port blocking, first hand, I've switched to Eircom and recieved no further problems. running the trace programs will show no losses, but the game will be refused connection by clearwire blocking port 26000) some icelandic ISPs are also blocking eve, though this issue may have been subsequently resolved:
It appears that a bunch of the cheapskate ISPs have leapt onto the bandwagon together, and decided that blocking high bandwith applications (p2p programs, including games) is the way to reduce strain on their network, rather than upgrading systems.
several fixes have been offered, with varying success in each case:
a program called peerguardian blocks EVE some users have experienced problems with norton refusing permissions a port tunneller gives (slow unless you pay a subscription) access to the servers by bouncing through a different port. at least one player has offered a proxy server to connect through, try looking for earlier threads with a similar title.
try the above, and hopefully you will have some success.

guys i've been unable to connect aswell... can connect to all web pages etc but eve didn't work... Server status unknown
I ran Tracert in the command promt and got and unable to connect to host error...
I then uninstalled the game and reinstalled... did nothing.
Finally i uninstalled and did a system restore to a time before i had the problems. Reinstalled the full client and it's working like a charm again...
I'm living in Japan so i doubt those ISP probs are effecting me out here
I've had no problems with EVE since the new patch... so whatever it was it has to be a problem with the patch as i cant fix ISP problems with just my computer!
Hope this helps.

Hmm, I was able to play all morning (04:30 - 11:00 Eve time) and now, after DT, I'm back to Status Unknown.
Last night, I was able to get back on around 22:00 Eve time.
Ticket with ISP not yet looked at. Anybody got a response from their ISP yet?

Thor, try running limewere. Whenever my ISP (tiscali) blocekd EvE, it blocked Limewire too.
Changed ISPs, so dont have the issue anymore.

Does anybody know of a way to determine categorically if a port is being blocked by an ISP?
yeah, i'm getting it working late at night / and the next morning, but not during the evening aswell.

Originally by: Xridurim umm, the client seems to try and make connections to 2 system when it comes up, one comes up and connects fine, the other fails with a pile of tcp checksum errors etc.
Bad network stuff going on :-(
TCP checksum errors on outbound frames in a packet capture are to be expected. Google for "TCP checksum offload" :-)

Got a response from my ISP (Eclipse in the UK) and they categorically state they do not block any ports. In fact, they are asking that other Eclipse users report the issue (with me it worked fine for a day or so and now about 10 minutes ago, bang, disconnect -> Status Unknown).
Petition answer was to run pingplotter, which I did and that showed no anomalies.
Next gonna try that limewire suggestion someone made.
