Yeah, I'd have to agree that the Northern piece of the update lacks some polish.
The North is indeed the relative free-for-all that people describe it to be. Frankly, its glorious. I spoke months ago about a new paradigm in the North and the fact that few if any of us wanted to return to the way it was. We like it like this. Politics and diplomacy in the area are ever-evolving. Differing agendas rule the day. The one constant appears to be the the long time residents of the North have little use for the new residents and there is pretty much where the battle lines are drawn.
Even these lines are clouded as entities red to each other will band together temporarily to strike at the new northern residents. Granted Sparta are not technically "new" up here, but they are certainly in new digs and have aligned themselves with the new residents.
In my view there is no central power in the North that is far and away the most powerful. There are many power blocs in play up here. The territorial situation is quite fluid although higher sovereignty levels are being achieved and the more powerful entities are digging in. It's Fight Club up here.
I completely agree that TRI has become a major power in the North. Whether or not they want to stay in the dreadful business of sovereignty and POS fueling remains to be seen. It isn't fun. They are the new owners of Deklein and MM, for one, welcomes them to the party. 
Morsus Mihi, Pure and Hydra have retained their space throughout the war thus far--- MC stopping at Tenal being a major reason. Razor lost their space but was restored to Tenal a few weeks later when Terror in the System was quickly and summarily kicked out of Tenal and subsequently disbanded despite their best efforts and those of their friends (who I understand to have been very disappointed in their efforts).

Only time will tell if losing their space will kill razor, but it will shrink them significantly as well as reduce their capabilities. At the moment razor are what they are. An alliance with a small highly skill roaming pvp force. No doubt that those guys can continue to be successful where ever they go. As far as the rest of them, who knows. Seems like they were not meant to be a space holding alliance, but a roaming alliance. I think we are doing them a favor by removing the burdens of holding space from them. Your welcome razor.
Two weeks later, Terror in the System is bounced out of Tenal by fleets led by Razor and now Terror in the System is dead. How funny is that? How nice things must have looked when MC was doing all the heavy lifting. You're welcome, pershphanie.
