Whats a good way to discribe EvE to a person who has never played it before but their typical response is "Oh isnt that that spreadsheet online game or some sort of economic simulator?"
Basicly, im looking for the best way to break the sterotype that eve is nothing but a game of numbers.

It's a sandbox. It has the interfaces for Microsoft Excel Online, WoW In Space, an RTS in which your 'units' are real people, and many other things, but you choose which ones to take part in. -

I prefer to think of it as a box of lego, but you only have 20 minutes a day to make something with it. You can either make some big castle over several days, or you can find all the pointy pieces, stick them together, and stab your sibling in the ear.
Its all EVE.

Perhaps it is what Second Life is supposed to be, except with spaceships and large scale war. -

Also that. It really is more of a hobby than a game. Important one to get across, that. -

Personally I like to describe EVE as real life, but in space, and where it's very much legal to brutally murder people as much as you like.

EVE is like being kicked repeatedly in the genitals by a steel-toecapped, hatchet-faced man who smells of gerbils. But good.

Making your way in the world today Takes everything you've got; Taking a break from all your worries Sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go Where everybody knows your name, And they're always glad you came; You want to be where you can see, Our troubles are all the same; You want to be where everybody knows your name.
That's about it!

I totally agree with the hobby thing. Eve is more than just a game. I think I am the perfect example actually .. I stopped playing Eve four times but I keep coming back. It's crazy. Furthermore, before Eve I was almost exclusively playing either first person shooters or racing simulations, so for a game like Eve to get me hooked was quite the accomplishment.
Eve is so much more than a game of numbers. The number crunching in Eve is simply basics, and actually not at all complicated once you get into it. Whoever says otherwise simply needs to try PvP .. I get such a rush each and every time it's not even funny anymore. __________
