Maybe I'm crazy, but the rat spawns in my area, which traditionally are excellent have pretty much plummeted to near zero. Sometime around last wednesday/thursday as far as I recall.
Just absolute, utter crap in -0.7 and -0.9 systems. Doesn't matter if system is empty of ratters, full of ratters. Mining ops, no mining ops. Just absolute craptastic.
Am I just on *****, or is anyone else noticing this?

Eh, I don't think so. The drop was dramatic. Like, overnight stuff. We're talking flying through a -0.9 system with 10 belts, 5 times completely, before seeing anything (let alone a big triple BS spawn).

there definately appears to me at least to be pretty crappy spawns where ive been of late. Dont know if this is the region but for a -0.8 system the spawns are terrible.

While I have not seen this occur recently in the Drone Regions, there was a time a few months back when all rats stopped spawning. You fit a mining laser or mining drone, and would get a respawn within a minute of activating it. This worked the vast majority of the time.
The lack of rats lasted a few days, then we got a patch or hotfix and it got all better. I wonder if you're seeing the same issue. Please try mining and see if you get quick spawns.

Hmm...
One of the guys in my corp was complaining about that the other night. He said that the rats had been nothing but frigs and cruisers for 2 days, and the frequency of spawns was way low. This was in 0.0 sec systems too. I figured that maybe there was some script that reduced the number of rats if you ratted a system continually (to simulate the depletion of rat resources) But maybe it's just a bug after all.

I second exactly this! cruisers/frigs & occasional 500k bs spawns (nothing bigger) in -0.9 sec for almost a week now.
Maybe the rats finally clued in that if they spawn we will pew-pew them? I know they don't learn when their buddies wrecks are in the same belt...

I may have scared them off. There seemed to be plenty to me. Even got two juicy dread spawns in two days. I wonder if respawn rates are effected in any way by weather or not the wrecks are salvaged.

I think I know why. I just intercepted this communication from the Sansha High Command:
We hereby issue a general retreat order to all Sansha ships located in any space reachable by pod pilots. We have confirmed that the drones, Serpentis, Guristas and Angels have all issued similar orders.
As you know, our policy of attacking all pod pilots on sight does not seem to be working. Recent estimates put our win-loss record at 103 to 12,354,234,432. Krull's cloning costs alone have cost 29,345,305,500 isk just in the last month.
Since we do not ever mine, we can no longer produce ships for these attack. Accordingly we will retreat and regroup. We will start using some of those mining lasers that we often put on our combat ships to mine for ore. We will also institute a training program to put appropriate weapons and mods on our ships. Energy transfer arrays will be banned unless we intend to use them!

i do have to agree, that spawns have been craptastic, and getting worse everyday. ratting in a -.7 feels like I'm back in -.1 space :/

Warp to the sun.
Trust me it will work sometimes if rats dont spawn in any of the belts for a bit. Works in the same way that fitting a mining laser/drone and start cycling on a roid works. Accidently ccp somehow borked the spawning condidtions so they would change to either "in" the roid (so u had to mine it) or they shunk the radius u had to be in, from the belt, to the sun lol.
