Edited by: Imperius Blackheart on 28/07/2007 15:55:31 Apart from a couple of *****les the sound was fine for me, bbq footage and people just saying "hi i'm so and so" took too much screen time imo considering we pay per min. But other than that was a good show. Enjoyed it, thanks.
Edit Ok having to bypass the profanity filter, god knows why the word c.rackles (in audio) is banned.

Edited by: Ashis on 28/07/2007 16:03:20 - I played it straight through - no problems with sound.
- If there aren't people that are qualified AND applying to be an expert on Eve TV that are not from BOB, wtf do you want Spiral to do about it? Apply fgs.
- A word on content - I enjoyed the Bob BBQ bit cause I wondered what ANY type of Eve meet on that scale would be like. But I can see the points made here about spreading the content around, even if you do have experts from particular organizations.
- Spiral: your interview with Molle was awesome. I wish I could have put it on pause and passed you one question after his heartfelt 'we lost a friend' bit: "If what happens in game stays in game, and a character in BOB orchestrated this theft affecting your characters, and not you personally, why would your rl friendship change over it?" -- Bob likes to bat around the character vs. player bit all the time, but it seems when they are negatively effected they forget where the line is.
If they held themselves to the standard that they hold their opponents then buddy who ripped them off should have been at the public part of the BBQ with them laughing over his ingame character antics with them.
Good episode - keep them coming!

What happened to the 250 stream for this week? the 500 stream was full of buffering every 45 secs for me, was a bit frustrating (I asusme the buffering was a bandwidth issue rather then a technical problem with Jalipo as I only have 512 ADSL), can you please bring back the lower quality stream for next week, alternatively is there a way to get Jalipo to preload the stream while it's paused (like You-Tube does). It's probably worth noting that the 500 stream costs more credits per min, so it's removal is probably going to fuel some conspiricy theories regarding trying to screw people out of more money .
Aside from that, I agree with what a lot of people are saying coverage this week was fairly BoB heavy, too be expected though given the event you were covering. Over all I thought last weeks eppisode was a bit better.
Will the 'regular' segments like the ship and alliance profiles be making a return next week? Personally I prefer that side of Eve Tv to the event coverage side...

Bit too much emphasis on the BoB BBQ compared to other player meets. Still having sound issues and it still buffers roughly every sixty seconds for me on a 2mb ADSL line. I'd be interested to know if I'm the only one getting these buffering issues.

How can you possibly claim not to be BoB-Biased when out of a 38 minute episode, there was, at an estimate, 25 minutes worth of Bob coverage. A tiny bit on that all-girl chat channel and the rest was on the new player expereince which if you'll forgive my presumption, is of no relevence to 99.9% of Eve. No ships profiling. A tiny segment on TRI's killing of the Nyx and the rest of the programme taken up with BoB's BBQ. Now I'm not being anti-BoB by any means, I'm being anti-bias. I don't object to Farjung per se, rather I object to Farjung's persistant name dropping of BoB. Political commentators (unless they work for the BBC) show impartiality and don't name drop even though they have their own political affiliations insofar as whom they vote for. Soccer commentators don't band their teams drum throughout their commentary even though they might commentate on a team they support. They keep their nuetrality. A neutrality that's sorely lacking in Eve T.V.
Again, I point out this is not anti-BoB because if it was Goons being covered all the time or any other establishment then I'd be posting the same complaints. Certainly one might tell me if I don't like it I have no need to watch it but that's somewhat of a simplistic answer to the problem. Spiral, I know you and Farjung are mates and I know it's become something of an injoke with you two but stop encouraging him to name drop.
What I'm trying to say is here's your chance to profile those Corps and Alliances we don't know rather than those we cannot avoid reading about on these boards due to their numerous forum warriors. Give the little guy a voice for a change, rather than the chest-beating power-bloc Alliances. Covering TRI last week or Pandemic the week before. Interviews with CCP staff rather, profiles on Ships and minor or less well known Alliances. Bearly a mention (beyond a few seconds worth last week) of RZR retaking Tenal and an entire segment of 0.0 space called the Dronelands to profile. Why 0.0 anyway? There's plenty that goes on in Empire and this game is not limited to PvP in terms of combat yet the programme is dominated by it.
All I'm saying is Eve T.V. right now is terribly biased towards one set of gamers and should be reaching out to a broader audiance. Afterall, there is life outside of the Great War

How could you possibly form an opinion before watching the show? While after watching it you can be somewhat vindicated, it doesn't give your opinion creedence when you were complaining BEFORE the show was avaliable for viewing however..
Suggests your mind was already made up.

Watched the episode.
This one was a dip in quality from the last 2, which were pretty decent.
The main problem, as everyone else has been saying, the insane BoBness of this episode, and as someone who is part of the coalition, this makes me sad.
Unless I missed it, I didn't see an alliance profile at all this week. I was hoping to see MM up there, but I hope for that every week :p
I just don't know why, but this episode bored me to near tears for some reason.
Here's hoping next week's episode returns to normality and (except for MC) neutrality.
Also, kudos to the team for going out to Denmark to cover the BBQ. That's dedication.

good episode
Ignore anyone saying too much bob... unless they are willing to put as much organization into an event of such a large size, they really don't have a leg to stand on.
You're going to have to spend as much time on the august london meet however, or they'll be more *****ing.

I started writing a huge post about how bad this week was, but it was essentially saying "too much filler" with a bunch of specific suggestions on improvement. If a more full critique would be welcome and useful, I'll send it to [email protected] but I'm not particularly sure it belongs here.

The bob voices was not just low, i heard nothing from any of the field recordings, only bob i heard voice from i understood, was Farjung's studio recording, all other bob's, and the "women gamer" part, was quiet, and the last part, the dude in cowboyhat, sounded as it was scambled.

Rubbish tbh worst so far Not because it was about bob because it WAS ALL about bob, not much content in it keeping in mind it was the longest episode so far, No sound for half of it didnt help much. Hopefully this was just a glitch and next weeks will be a lot better

Okay well they take a little dig at bob at the start, and then lets see how it goes -
News - covering everything ingame first 7 mins
Bob BBQ - Good at the start, though went on a bit. 8 mins long.
Farjung bit in studio - bit about bob at the start, then general stuff about 0.0 and other alliances.
Women Gamers of EVE - Interesting but sound quality utterly pap :( It also suddenly cuts out??
Stevie and Fortuna - Nice little section, still sound issues
NPE - Nice, although sound keeps peaking out when they talk and say something loudly. Nicely editied though :) I would have thought the NPE before Stevie/fortuna bit would make more sense. The extreme close ups dont really work when so much is filmed like that :(
SirMolle interview - visually seems to have totally*****ed up. Sound also really pap, nice location though quite striking. Lawl at Spirals comments to Molle. total FAIL at bleeping the F-word from it though.
All in all content was good, sound was pap. I wouldnt say it was "bob tv" though. Yes there was a section on bob BBQ and a section with SirMolle but in all fairness it was all very interesting.
We would love to interview other well known names ingame but you do have to put yourself foward for it :)

Transitions from the material taken out of studio with the stuff filmed in the studio were somewhat abrupt, like the part wasn't concluded and bang there comes a studio part again.

You mean the part where Zajo is literally cut off mid-sentence, then BAM we're back talking to FortunaFive? Yeah, that was pretty abrupt.
The sound was pretty uneven for me during the BoBBQ segments, the music was especially loud at times.

You know what caused the sound problems? Spiral and Farjung being possessive and/or lazy with the microphone! You can see it in the interview with SirMolle. Elbow propped on the leg, microphone held vaguely in the direction of the speaker, and SirMolle was sitting over a meter away. No surprise that his voice was not as loud as the interviewer's. Lift that arm and get the mic to the mouth!

The audio on ALL 'outside' broadcasts was hopeless here ! The studio audio was fine, the background music on the outside stuff was OK but the vocals sounded as if the were underwater and too quiet to hear.
A complete waste considering the proportion of outside interviews in this show :-(
Will I get a refund ?

When the most talked about alliance in Eve throws a BBQ open to all and you get a chance to stick a microphone in the face of the head of that alliance - do you really want them to ignore that?
It would be a huge miss if they didn't feature that. And I don't think it was specifically Bob-friendly. It was just covering a noticable event.
There are other weeks to come for all the usual stuff.
That being said, it probably wasn't the best of episodes.
In regards to the NPE, following their steps in more detail would be more interesting. Having them stare at the screen and small soundbites of what they can't quite figure out now - is not as engaging as is could be for the viewer, I reckon.
Overall its still good fun though, and well worth the money.

Try shifting the balance on the audio on your speaker/sound control panel. --------------------------------- |

Enjoyed it once again, and to echo a few other people in the thread if you have something that you think should be featured GET IN TOUCH. So people can stop wining about BOB being on it to much, i would have Burn Eden week but i cant talk about stabs for long enough :).
Any way good job the bbq looked cool wish i could have made it and when Fortunafive said she lost a Heron lol, i just wanted to give her a hug.

Got the same too, am pretty certain it's an issue with the broadcast and not my own speaker balance. Pretty frustrating only being able to hear the studio segments and not any of the outside segments. This wason the 250k stream - maybe it's punishment from the Eve gods for being too cheap to pay for a better quality version
