Hello people of the internet who will no doubt scorn this post!
Today marks the first anniversary of Enlightened Industries!
What began as merely an alt industrial corp ENL-I has grown massively and is now home to a fairly large community of space friends, deviants and I dare say a few people who like animals a bit too much. We are very multi-cultural; we have a homosexual, a black man, a multitude of different ethnic backgrounds including, but not limited to, Singaporean, Russian, German, Eastern European, British, US, Australian + many others. We also have, wait for it, not just one but two girls! This in itself is a great achievement.
The corp has had many achievements, set backs, a lot of drama and plenty of tears. We even suffered from a hostile takeover in which I lost CEO! But with some excellent negotiation skills, and a few threats of out-of-game violence, I manage to get my roles back and ended up 1 x Thanatos up out of it too.
We began in Domain, close to Amarr, mining Pyroxeres. We then joined the Black Thorne Alliance who lived in Solitude and it was here where we began to find our feet and grow exponentially. We dreamed of being a nullsec dwelling entity but being a bunch of newbies we thought it would take years to make the move. Fortunately an alliance in the then Northern Coalition had incredibly low joining requirements and so our move to nullsec and into the Spacemonkey's alliance happened. It was great, there in Pure Blind for 4 days before being called to deploy into Tribute to help defend against the maniacal onslaught of the DRF +PL+Friends. 4 days in nullsec and facing hundreds of super caps. Our members really didn't know what the hell was going on and so we lost quite a few people.
I like to think it was this being thrown in at the deep end which strengthened ENL-I, like a hammer in a forge or a beefcake in a gym. We overcame such adversity, laughed in the face of hotdrop after hotdrop and eventually became a hardened killing machine capable of putting a dent into even the thickest of armour - or people. It was at this point we began flying more with Goonswarm and ergo TEST Alliance. We felt we were more of a fit with these bigger alliances and so decided to join TEST.
We haven't been in TEST too long, or in game for that matter, but we feel we fit right in. We have had a 20bil badger loss (OOC but on same API), have made the Hall of Shame numerous times, I have pee'd off the entire alliance with my dodgy Jabber connection, my guys have bombed blues on multiple occasions and our posting is terrible.
Did I mention we have girls in our corp?
And to top it all off I have only played this game for 15 months now, 12 months of those of which I have been CEO. It has been a fun ride, I have made some great friends, I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. No wait...
What's next I hear the most diligent of you cry?! Well we are continuing to strengthen our capital fleet (lol I know right?), create a super capital fleet (rofl wtf) and add to our community.
So thank you to those who managed to read this wall of text. Thank you to those who clicked into the thread purely to post "GTFO". Thank you to people who attempted to read but got as far as "we got girls in corp" and had to reach for the tissue. But most of all thank you to all of the wonderful and slightly gay members of ENL-I who make me want to log in each day. |
