############################# ############################# _____CCP has made the POS invulnerable even to wars because CONCORD saves them. After all you need such high standings and even permission from the faction to place it there. So it acts a lot like the faction's station. There is no issue with this. ############################# ############################# _____Why don't more people run these for the public. They could have a really low tax set. A market and all the various forms of services. Here by the players own doing such things that are currently impossible could be done. Things like trade embargos simply by trading in this elite station. Also if this become popular enough and was 1 jump from Jita I am sure some Jita people would move here. ############################# ############################# _____Manufacturing, refining, and the various forms of research could be done here as well for a relatively small fee. I won't advise people on how this can be done best but I would make manufacturing almost as cheap as NPC stations but slightly higher if the manufacturing time reduction add ons are part of the station. More expensive for material and time efficiency research especially material because slots are more full for material research. Keeping costs relative to but not necessarily competitive with the various research alliances since this is almost fully public and does not take the Scientific Networking skill to use. ############################# ############################# _____I am not sure if people with higher standings towards corp or player would get the same tax reduction like with NPC standings at NPC stations. If they do then people could do things for the owners and have standings get elevated because of that. I am also not sure what happens with trading if the station is offlined and all the items inside if the owner unanchors providing possibly the biggest reason why this could never work for the public. I know research jobs stop but are not cancelled if a station goes offline. ############################# ############################# _____The POS owner would only need the startup capital to start this. If his prices are more competitive with NPC prices whether it is because of the reduced time for research or simply because of the overall convenience he would have users. Please no flames and give me good replies, if there is some reason none of this can be done at all then please reply in a constructive manner.
_____When you quote my post please edit out this part ############################# and any paragraph you are not directly quoting ############################# as well as the /black tags, ############################# makes it easier for everyone to read ############################# thank you.

Originally by: Tortun Nahme there are plenty of people who run public services, but the simpel fact is its expensive to run them
If this is fully possible and the only problem is the POS owners reputation then this is something I will definitely do in the future.

Originally by: Arushia You seem to be confusing POSes and stations. POSes cannot have markets, and cost fuel to maintain. It is impossible for anyone not in the owning corp to use POS manufacturing, copy, or invention slots.
If you wish to rent out ME or PE slots, you can join my alliance to use ours. Follow the link in my sig, or visit http://empireresearch.org in-game.
Ah so my idea can only work in 0.0 where Outposts can be setup. Well I will put this into features and ideas then for sure.

Originally by: Jurgen Cartis Have you ever tried running a Large Tower, large? Logistically, it's a lot easier to do production at NPC stations, and research slots generally require either Scientific Networking or corp hangar access.
As for outposts, I think that ISS tried something like this. Look where they are now. . .
I am not talking about outposts and 0.0 read the OP. As for scientific networking why do you think I want people to come to my station? It is not required!

Originally by: Princess Jodi I think you've got a lot of learning to do on how all this stuff works, the fuel and other costs involved and the politics of 0.0 life.
While it may be nice to dream of having a station and taxing/selling/refining for the general public it is not likely to occur. This type of task cannot be done by one person. It takes an Alliance to get it done and to keep it.
BTW: Be prepared to get a nice refinery and factory outpost in virgin space with all the ores you could ever dream of.... and have your Alliance mates expect to pay Jita prices while 50 jumps deep into 0.0. I spent an hour arguing with someone yesterday about a 20 mill markup on a Mackinaw. He could have easily made the 20 mill in that hour of ratting...but 'NO! Its too much so I'm gonna fly to Jita and hope I can get the ship out.'
Some people are Soooo stupid.
If I wanted an outpost in space that has 1/10th the customers I would go and do it.
