Anyone experienced this? I've had it since the last patch. I send volley on volley on a ship and even though I can clearly see them impact the npc's doesnt take any damage
I've wasted thousands of Havoc furies now

The Furies have a shorter range than standard Heavies (I think). Are you perhaps out of range of the NPC's?

Edited by: Garan Savlar on 29/07/2007 15:20:24 Weapons hitting NPCs and not causing damage has definitely been happening. I've had it at least 3 times and have had to log and sign back in again to rectify the problem. ------------------------------------------------

It's always been that way for missiles.

I've noticed it too, but it happened at the same time as I switched to level 2 missions and I assumed that's all it was.

I noticed torps only work on BSs for the most part now where before Rev. 2 they weren't bad at all with skills.

Sometime EVE graphic play that trick. You see the missile impact, so you think they are hitting, then re-checking the distance you notice that you are out of range.
Had a recent run in with a Drone mother in a hidden agent mission where the Drone was recovering all the shield and armor damage every few seconds, so it is possible you are doing damage and the target his healing all of it.

I ran into this phenomenon the other night at a complex I had probed out (yes, I actually found something semi-interesting with probes). I started shooting at some structures with my rails to see what would happen. I got messages that said something like "your 150mm Rail Gun II scores an excellent hit on whatever-the-hell-it-was for 0 damage". I figured this meant I wasn't supposed to attack the structure. Kind of an inelegant solution from the gameplay viewpoint, I think.

I've noticed this happening even when the NPC should have been within range. My missiles should have a range of 63KM, according to their flight time and speed. According to the overview, the target I am shooting at is around 60KM away. I see my missiles slam into the target, but they don't cause any damage. Is the overview just lagging? Is the target actually further away? ------------

It takes a few moments for the missiles to reach max velocity, so you'd cut off a small % of the max range, not sure how much that would take off though.
My issue was with Centi Plagues, there is no EW messing with my lasers, they should have the same resist types as everything else in that mission (which was no problem), they are stasised so tracking is no issue, they are within range and I'm blasting away for minutes before they die.

I had this problem running Angels Ex 4 with a corpmate. I warped out, then came back into the room and suddenly my guns started killing things. In a Maelstrom, gate transits through mission dedspace are a pain the arse, and I'd rather not have to warp out just to fix some weird bug. It's hard to reproduce deliberately, though, which might make it hard to report properly. Next time it does though let's all fill out bug reports. _

Thank you for clearing that up for me. ------------

Used to be your missiles would disappear before reaching their target when they reached the end of their range. Now they graphically hit, but do no damage.
I much prefer the old way as you could easily tell what the hell was going on. I'm not sure when this was changed. ----------- Support fixing the EVE UI Drones should not aggro anything missiles or turrets don't. |

Agreed. When I'm flying around at 80km in my Arbi while my drones do their work, I'd much rather not have to hear/see missiles impacts that are from missiles 4x too far away to ever hit me.

I've ran into this issue too, and the rats were in range. I switched targets and started hitting fine. When this happens to me now, I just switch targets and continue the mission. |

If you are at 60 km but the target is flying away (even if slower than you) you should add to the range the km the target will move while the missile appoach him.
I.E. you r missile need 15 seconds to move 60 km, the target move away from you at 200 m/s.
The missile must reach to 63+ km to hit him as he will have moved 3 km from the point where you launched the missile while your missile where approaching him.
To add to that EVE truncate the number on display, but keep the fraction for calculations. So a target at 60 km, can be in reality at 60.532 meters.
