It is priotized. Gang members are highest prioity, then corp, then negative corp standing and wars, then outlaws. So if an outlaw is also your corp member, he will be blue instead of red. If an outlaw is at war with you, he will show up yellow instead of red. If you are at war with a negative standing, he will show up yellow. If you are ganged with an outlaw he will show up blue. If you are ganged with someone you are at war with he will show up as blue. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

tbh i don't see a problem with the colors atm, but than again i'm neither colour blind nor at war. But I guess I can undersand the points people make; Perhaps the best idea would be to allow the user to customize the icons like the auto scanner?

Agreed on the red/orange similarity. I'm also having a problem similar to #2 but on the other end of the spectrum. We have m0o set to +10 and yet their pilots (regardless of security status) are appearing red. ______________

Quote: It is not ok. Green means ok, Blue means friend, Red means danger, orange means something in between. Its just like that. How much sense would it be if they made war enemies blue or green? Wars must be red.
Hell... donŠt jump at me guys... I didnŠt code that nonsense Of course the colors donŠt make sense at all, but it looks like some guy at CCP thought that using the standard colors people expect you to be using was boring and he thought that he might be able to bring a bit of confusion to it so people start blowing each other up by accident. Think of it as a good moneysink or something ItŠs the kind of CCP stuff I got used to by now...
The "outlaws" description in the notes is crap aswell because outlaws (as someone before me pointed out) used to be the name for free targets, which you could engage in empire space without receiving a free trip to the clonefacility of your choice. Appearently tho, anyone who has a minus secrating - no matter if -0.00001 or -10.0 - seems to appear red, at least on my client.
Anyways... this is not really a discussion I guess. I think everybody agrees that they need to sort this out asap because it leads to a lot of confusion and the colors are just wrong. Orange for corpwars is just nonsense...
What aggravates me much more about all this is that it often seems to be the case that they code something in but just donŠt do it in a consequent manner. They code in the colors and give us totally crap colors to deal with... and not a single detailed description about the exact rules after which brackets are colored. They donŠt let us configure the colors, they donŠt code in a mass-edit for standings and they completely ignore colorblind people. Sometimes it makes you think that they donŠt really give a damn and just code the stuff in cause we're screaming for it. I know it might not be that way but it looks like it... and that sets me up sometimes.
CCP: When you implement something, do it right. When you implement an autoscanner, let us configure the LEDs ourselves with whatever color we like and not just a choice of 4 or 5 colors... give us the whole spectrum, let us configure the order in which the LEDs appear. Same goes for the brackets. Why donŠt you let us configure the colors ourselves in the options menu? Really... if you implement stuff, do it right and donŠt give us this half-assed stuff that just confuses people and makes them bash their keyboards.

I think that this system of theirs need revisioning,
for example red should be a free target I mean someone that is a definate threat and a legal kill (war, bounty or wanted) someone you can kill (maybe not pod), Green should be friends (corpmates) blue buddies and orange well that could be wanted too, guys you can kill for bounties, yellow should be possible threats, bad sec rating and such.....
thats just my opinion, which is almost the same as Joshua's....I'm agreeing with Joshua?!?!?!
Ah well, if someone is right, you support him
Edit, then again......isn't the most common colorblindness red/green that is inability to tell the difference between those two colors?

It really needs fixing - the colours are so messed up that corporations have to be recognised by corp. ticker and thats just not suitable when you want to react quickly to a possible threat.

I'd love to have it sorted out as atm I cant distinguish been orange and yellow and red clearly...
To be honest I think that CCP should do it like they have done the scanner.. ie leave it up to the players to chose colors they can see clearly... or even better change the icon shapes for different states. That would even work for fully color blind people ( and there are some out there I think ).
The color blindness I suffer from aflicts around 10% of all males so it's affecting quite a few people playing eve I would think. -------------------------------------------
