Thanks for all the replies, my updated must put in room list is something like the following atm:
PC (with space for second in future) on corner unit 37-42" LCD HDTV on a cantilever for use as extra PC monitor as well as normal tv use Sky HD, 360, 5.1 suround system, discrete unit to hide it all Wrap around couch (what can I say, the homoerotic appeal sealed the deal ) Hard wood floor, venetian (spelling ftw) blinds, random ikea furniture etc Dart board, Poker table, Mini fridge
Sound proofing is a definate - My main concern is protecting the room below (family room), anyone have any experience with sound proofing for this layout? Any recommendations, or things to stay away from?
Thanks for the suggestions so far

Edited by: Joseph 9 on 31/07/2007 22:26:26 I think you need to apply some Feng Shui to the problem
Pity the beer is so ****-poor, but you can't have everything
And as for the soundproofing I'd look into decoupling your (doubtless) huge base speaker from the floor (i.e. spike it), and maybe get thicker than standard underlay if your going for carpet. You can get accoustic damping wall materials now so you could look into that for the walls, and I presume similar stuff must exhist for ceillings and floors, but it costs quite a bit of cash.
You may do better by getting a very good, and comparatively cheap set of headphones for late night movies/pvp.

Molotov*****tails stacked behind a bar, tbh.
Should be able to find some grenades or artillery shells at the local army surplus store. Those make great paper weitghts/conversation pieces. (deactivated of course)
My guitar teacher had a deactivated grenade once, on my first day he saw me eyeing it and he picked it up, pulled the pin, and said, "Here, catch!" and threw it at me.
Im pretty sure I ran out of the room

A ship while docked is safe... But that isn't what ships were made for.

There was a news story a while back about a teacher who was using a 40mm grenade round as a paper weight. One day he used it to crush a fly and it blew his hand off. He thought it was deactivated. ------

Ok the requirements for a Man room are simple.
1.) Big Ass Hi-Def Tv 2.)Mini-Fridge 3.) Microwave 4.) as many fricken computers you can fit in the place 5.) Ample seating for you and at least 3 others 6.) Place for the hard liquor,if its a big room get a bar if not stick it in a box atop said Fridge, said fridge must be stocked with only beer,Mountain Dew or a myriad of energy drinks 7.) This is the only one optional if you got the space get a pool table, even if you can't play get a pool table
Man rooms are basically places for us to hide from our wives and when that fails all we got left is the garage.
