A small group of ppl trying to do a stand against a new big army. We all know how that ends though :)
Didn't Sparta just surrender
i really dont know where u come from or what are ur beliefs... but this is a game and i see u ppl cant really understand this right? this is a GAME.
Now about Sparta.... i am Greek and i am REALLY ******* proud of it. If u think Sparta EVER surender to Persians then think again. 300 spartans + 1000 thespians Vs 1mil persians. IN REAL LIFE (hope u know what that is right?) they hold them at bay and were kill by a traitor, they keep appearing all over RL history.
This has nothing to do with a GAME so keep ur RL comments out of this. But i guess u are incapable of doing that right? poor u....
P.S. Don't believe what movies show ... they are movies (aka not real) read a book here and there it helps, some ppl not all...
Off thread.
You should be proud of greek history and for a lot more than the spartans, as for thermopylae there's so much conflicting evidence that its folly to claim "accurate" knowledge.
I've studied greek history and the debates still rage about thermopylae, Herodotus, the most quoted source, born in the same period but a little later than the actual battle, claimed 2 million persians while historians still dont know for sure.
Personally from my own reading I'd say the total number of men the commited to the campaign was @1.5 million, that includes everything from naval to ground forces, logistics and train, as for the actual battle, no one knows and until we get time travel, (as if) we'll never know, go for a safe conservative estimate and you might @250 thousand persians commited to the battle.
The single most important thing to remember about this little slice of history is that all alleged facts are written by the victors, persion history, for obvious reasons is a little grey.
That a few held off many is true, beyond that you opinions are just as valid as mine, but neither of us can claim to be correct.
As for the banana comment, you lucked out this guy wasnt eygptian and told to suck eggs while he lectured you on culture.
On topic.
When is the 66 slugfest going to end?
