I have had a petition in to CCP for well over a month in regard to the invention hardwirings that were added to the new LP store when Revelations II was released.
My question was basically this:
1) Do they work, specifically the GI-2?
2) If the GI-2 does work, what is the bonus applied? The bonus is missing from the description.
My first response came in after 2 weeks or so and the GM who replied stated that after asking around, no one seemed to know. I asked to have this petition escalated to someone in CCP who was more familiar with the game. After another 2 weeks another GM responded, this time with a more direct, but disturbing answer.
The GM's answer in summary:
1) The Hardwirings DO NOT WORK currently.
2) CCP is deciding whether to fix them or just pull them from the game. This decision is going to happen soon.
3) CCP apologizes for any "trouble".
So, if you already have one of these hardwirings installed like me, you now know why your invention jobs aren't getting any better. Your quarter billion investment (more or less) is definitely not returning anything currently.
If you do not have one of these hardwirings yet and were thinking of buying one, or have one you were going to plug in, bear in mind the fact that they may just be removed. If they are removed, it will probably happen without any warning, solely based on CCP's past record of doing things like this. I also doubt there will be any kind of reimbursement if the items are removed (stolen) by CCP.
That is all, you may now return to your regularly scheduled forum programming.

Originally by: Halada As usual... no surprises here.
I sort of felt something was up when the first response took so long, and I had to escalate the petition just to get a very simple yes/no answer about a specific game item. This petition has been 'handled' by no less than 3 GMs now. It's not so much the LP and isk that got spent, it just feels like another bait-n-switch.
CCP did turn my old Starbase Tactical Officer skillbook into something usable instead of just deciding to just remove it. I hope they decide to at least do something similar here.

An update:
I just received another response to my petition and CCP assures now that these hardwirings will either be fixed or reimbursed if removed, 'when the time comes'. It would also seem that fixing them is their priority.
Thank you!
A fair resolution appears forthcoming, so I am happy my investment will not go to waste.
I am left wondering why CCP does not put all unfinished stuff like this on the known issues page? CCP already knew these hardwirings were unfinished and not working when the expansion was released. Simple disclosure would eliminate confusion and bad feelings I would think. It shouldn't be that hard to poll each developer prior to an update for a list of anything not completed.

An update:
As of the latest patch today the Draftsman Invention implants have been removed from the LP store a quarter of a year after they were introduced.
These implants are still not listed as non-functional on the known issues page.

It is interesting to see that on the patch notes page it now shows the Draftsman GI implants under "exploits".
So who exactly is/was exploiting these implants? In my opinion it is CCP, because they knew full well back in June the GIs didn't work, but placed them for sale in the LP store anyway. Their failure to list these on the known issues page is dubious at the very least. I know we are allowed and even encouraged to scam each other within the game but I would not expect to be scammed by CCP.
So CCP, can I expect a full refund (with interest) if I file an exploit petition?

Originally by: CCP Greyscale As you can probably tell from the patchnotes, we didn't get the fix we wanted for these implants in for this patch. They will be fixed (to do something useful) in a future patch - I'm sorry that this situation has occurred at all, please show just a little more patience while we deal with it.
There is another patch tomorrow and again no mention of fixing the Draftsman GI Hardwirings..
Can we please get some kind of update on how long it is going to take to fix our implants, and what "something useful" means exactly? I am getting the very strong feeling CCP intends to try to pass off giving us a cookie or something equally as infuriating and call that "useful".

Originally by: CCP Greyscale If it was that straightforward it would be fixed already.
No, they are definitely NOT adversely affecting your invention chances, and I say that with 100% certainty. As to the actual fix, it's still not decided exactly what form it will take but it's very likely that it will NOT increase your success probability. The formulas have been very carefully balanced and we're not going to mess with them via hardwirings. The description of the implant is "A neural interface upgrade that boost the pilot's skill at invention.", and it will most likely be boosting some invention-related "skill" (in the loose sense, not the skillbook sense) other than invention probability.
Thanks for the response..
So does that mean that if I already have maxxed-out my invention skill(s) (5/5/5) that this very expensive implant that I bought in good faith won't do anything?
How can you claim in a much earlier post that a a fix will be forthcoming when you (CCP) haven't even decided what that is going to be yet after so many months?
As my corp-mate mentioned, should I just open a reimbursement petition? I'd personally rather not wait another 1/2 a year having my isk tied up in a very expensive non-functional "something" you guys cannot seem to get together on.
This is not meant to sound like a rant, but I paid a lot for this broken thing and would like to have my isk back please so I can use it on something else that works, is available now, that has a clearly defined purpose.

How about we have a Dev step-up and address this topic with a meaningful answer?
When will this implant be fixed? many patches have come and gone, and it seems you guys still don't even know what you want to do here.
What will the fix actually be?
If you can't answer either direct question with a timely and meaningful response, can I please, PLEASE just get my isk back? It has been 6-months and $90 worth of subscription fees since this was botched after all.
The number of these implants that exist in game times $90.00 would be a VERY interesting number to know.

Here we go... another patch. Anything in the patch notes about the implants being fixed?.. nope.
I for one am at the end of my patience. Reimburse me for your blunder already CCP, I already filed the petition 2 weeks ago which remains unanswered.

The Draftsman implants were removed from the LP store stealthfully and then deemed an "exploit" without any explanation approx 2-3 months after this thread was created.
We were promised many many patches ago these implants would be fixed (somehow) but CCP devs have stopped commenting on this, and CCP now just ignores reimbursement petitions (at least mine) and this thread altogether.

C'mon Devs, I know both CCP Greyscale and CCP Chron monitor this forum..
How about some "useful" or "meaningful" input here?

I hope that helps explain the situation a little from our end. A fix is in the pipeline for our next static patch hopefully. Apologies for the extremely long wait you have had for a fix.
There is a very noticeable lack of the word "Draftsman" on the patch notes page for the Tuesday, 19 February patch.
Path Notes
Would you care to comment again please on when CCP will finally address this? You do realize that if you just reimbursed everyone involved and deleted these items from the game, it would probably be a heckuva' lot easier, and would be one less thing on the list of broken game features that need your attention.

Gee... Yet another patch tomorrow and still no Draftsman in the patch notes... That means the next real patch won't come out until sometime near or after the 1-year anniversary of the Draftsman being introduced in its present useless state.
CCP Chronotis, did you actually mean "next year" back on Jan 2nd, and accidentally typed-out "next static patch" instead?
Cmon' CCP, please just reimburse us for this stupid implant already and simply remove it from the game. I could have made a billion isk with the funds I have had tied-up in your little LP store scam.
(If scam is too harsh of a word for anyone here, please substitute the term "exploit" as was done when the Draftsman was stealthfully removed (without explanation) from the LP store by CCP, 3 months after it was introduced.

I won a sizable bet recently that CCP wouldn't do a bloody thing about these implants prior to the first anniversary of their introduction.
Way to go CCP! I can't wait until 2010 when you finally release the Orca, or finally get around to buffing Industrialists again. I have another substantial sum riding on your continued apathy, so please, make me proud!
